Newbury 22nd June (eve)

Recommended Posts

9.00 Beverley A lingfield handicap rematch here for the 3 likely market leaders in Avrillo (won the race but was only 4th last time out but drawn well today but a massive 9lb rise in weights looks harsh), Green Velvet was 3rd but was placed 2nd due to Baby Queen being disqualified for weighing in light, cant find how much light but they meet on same terms and I cant think it would be much more than a 1lb or 2lb which probably wouldnt reverse the form of 1length and 1/4, that was her first sign of decent form since winning 2 decent enough handicaps last summer, she is just a ball of speed and could well take this from the front, stables horses are going reasonably well with a couple of big prices winners helping out their LSP for last 14 days to 47.00 (4 winners from 18 several placed efforts) 0.5pt e/w baby queen

Re: Newbury 22nd June (eve) 19:25 - Cape Dollar @ 15/8 Stan James (bog) Form of maiden looks ok and should enjoy the step up a furlong, Stoute's are not tried to hard FTO so this one will run alot better tonight and should have the edge over the ones that are out first time. Zanazzi ran nice fto and will be a tough challenge for Stoute's horse.

Re: Newbury 22nd June (eve) 6:20 Newbury - Aegean King - 1pt e/w @ 4/1 (Bet365) Well bred colt who is yet to win but was well gambled on last time out suggesting they were expecting a big run for him but he just couldn't get there in the end, Finishing 3l behind the winner in 4th. He was stepped up from 5f to 1m that day and takes a further step up to 1mile 3 furlongs today. Looked like the further he'll go the better and this step up in trip should definitely suit, Based on breeding it shouldn't be a bother. Has a decent 5lb claimer on board, Which mean he'll only be carrying 8-11. Should have a decent chance if running like last time where he seemed to need more distance and got no luck in running, I don't think he'll be out of the first 3 at least, But this is an apprentice race so anything could happen but he's sure to have a decent chance off this mark.

Re: Newbury 22nd June (eve) 8:30 Newbury - Sea Of Heartbreak - 1pt @ 5/2 (Bet365) Very well bred daughter of Rock of Gibralter, Related to many winners and she has notched up 3 victories in a row and seems to be on the right side of the handicapper for the moment at least. This looks a trappy race to call but she showed plenty of speed last time out and judging by that race the extra furlong shouldn't be a bother, She likes the quick ground too. Steve Drowne is on board and he's a very capable jockey and has a 15% strike rate for Charlton. Should have a good chance in this race, Soundly drawn, Ground in favor and seems to have lots of class, Only putting on a small bit though as it's a tough one to call.

Re: Newbury 22nd June (eve) 20:30 - Namaskar @ 4/1 Hills (bog) Decent run fto this season in handicap comapany, raced just once as a 2yo winning her maiden race. Could of needed that run lto and better should be expected here. Gosden stable in good form with a shade over 20% win S/R in last 14 days.

Re: Newbury 22nd June (eve) 21:00 - Captain Kallis @ 9/1 VCBet (bog) Been running consistently well in this kind of company, he was behind West Leake a few runs ago but was infront of Avrilo and meets both on better terms today. Not getting much help from the handicapper but keeps plugging on and may get rewarded tonight.
