Vegas recomendations

Recommended Posts

I'm heading over for a week early next month, haven't been over for four years so a bit out of touch. I'm looking for recomendations on good places to play and stay. Work is footing the bill, but I don't want to take the piss with costs, esp in a recession, you gotta be a bit responsible. Work venue is towards the top end of the strip, but I guess I could monorail. Have stayed at Luxor and Flamingo before, both ok but would prefer somewhere new. Looking for place with decent lowish stakes cash tables ($2 / $ 5 blinds ??) or some SnG action. Thanks

My favourite is the MGM, love it. :ok Very central and huge hotel. If work is footing the bill stay there, it's in the medium price range. If I'm not wanting to pay very much for a room, then the Excalibur is my choice. For the location, quality and price, it can't be beaten in my opinion. :ok

Re: Vegas recomendations By top end of the strip do you mean the Wynn end? I've stayed at the TI before and had no complaints. Decent room, great location, not too pricey and not so massive you spend half the day walking to and from your room. Since all our credits got crunched most of the cash game poker in Vegas is lower stakes and even the Bellagio has a 1/2 game. Or the last time I checked it did. It's hard to say the best places to play as it depends what you want. The worst standard of play is in the smaller shabbier rooms in general. The Venetian is by far the nicest card room, but is one of the tougher rooms to make money. The MGM is a nice compromise. Good room, lots of drunk fish. In general avoid playing in the day, and play when people have a few tequillas inside them.

Re: Vegas recomendations What I would recommend, as you have the time, is try out a load of rooms and see what you prefer. A lot of it is personal preference and the poker rooms have a very different feel. A hit list should include: Bellagio Venetian MGM Mirage Caesars Wynn Aria

It's not a large IT conference you're attending is it? CA?

Re: Vegas recomendations AJ..... As alexander the meercat would say, its simples! The nicer and bigger the poker room, the better the player and higher stakes My advice would be the following: For $1/$2 NL Holdem, play Excalibur, I was hammered drunk playing pure aggressive poker and had an ROI of over 600% after 3 days playing there. For low stakes MTT's ($80 up) play at Planet Hollywood as there are 4 a day and get around 40-80 runners, nice rooms, good looking waitresses and decent structures compared to rest of strips For higher stakes MTT's play at Caesars, the nightly $120 and daily $250 are very good structures, get over 100 playing and prizes are very good in a quality card room For higher stakes cash ($2/$4 -$20/$40) play at the MGM or The Mirage. The play is softer than the venetian, caesars and wynn and the cardrooms are nice too. If your feeling adventurous, sit down in Bobbys Room........gotta do it just once surely! Good luck and have a cracking time, no place like it on earth!

Re: Vegas recomendations

Unless you really really like live poker tournaments don't play tournaments in Vegas!! Those deep-stacked ones take forever. Sure there is a chance of a big spin-up' date=' but you can always play roulette :D[/quote'] It's true, Pernille won one with 96 runners at the Venetian and it took her 10 hours to win it. I'd be passed out with alcohol poisoning and boredom after 10 hours.

Microsoft. Some great feedback, it's at the Venetian. I generally don't like to stay at the conference venue so i'm ruling that out.

Re: Vegas recomendations We stayed here last month, Signature condo's linked to the MGM http://s655.photobucket.com/albums/uu274/SignatureRentals/2BD%2031602%2031604/ It was so good we've booked it again in September! 5 mins to monorail and the MGM pools (milf hunt) and the MGM cash tables range from 1/2 to whatever and are full of fish. Best mid range tourneys are at Ceasar's :ok

Re: Vegas recomendations Ended up booked in at the Flamingo again :eyes It was too cheap to turn down and in a good location. Will defo try the tables at the Excalibur and MGM. Like the sound of the nightly $120 tourney at Caesers, just across the street so not to far to carry my winning back. Get there on the 17th, there for seven nights, so plenty of time to have fun. Thanks for all the advice

Re: Vegas recomendations Nothing wrong with the Flamingo. I spent two weeks there a couple of years back during the WSOP :eek You have to check out the Venetian at some point. The best room in Vegas easily. MGM is a great place to play cash. And don't worry that it's mostly 1/2. It plays fast and loose. You will see plenty of people open to $15 and call big bets with some bag of spanners. It's always funny seeing someone raise to $6 and get 8 callers. That said I remember WASP couldn't win a hand when I was there with him a few years back :lol Enjoy!

Re: Vegas recomendations Bill's Gambling Hall has a $1/$1 cash game that's easier to draw cash out of than the average ATM. Although last time i was there it was being hit up by clued-up locals who drift around eating up the fish. Apparently Bally's is very soft for cash too as a lot of conventioneers stay there. For small buy-in tourneys, the Sahara up the strip does a great one twice a day at $65 with probably the best structure in town. V. friendly and soft but not so fishy you'll get sucked out on at the drop of a hat.

Re: Vegas recomendations Las Vegas never fails to thrill, and this Vegas buffet news is no exception! Starting Apr. 12, you’ll be able to enjoy citywide, all-day access to seven of Sin City’s famed buffets for one stunningly low price. No kidding. Why don't you try crying to your mommy? There are more buffets to explore! No, get busy. The “Buffet of Buffets” pass is good for 24 hours, with no limit to how many times you use the pass during that time. The passes are obviously only good during hours that the buffets are open. Re: Vegas recomendations did the buffet of buffets thing on Sunday, ok if you can time the queues. I just won my first vegas tourney, nothing major but a 33 player, $45 buy in at O'Sheas, took three hours during which I must have knocked back 8 vodka tonics, which is a slight value add. Lost the same game heads up on Sunday to a shocking bad beat, so it's good to get the win this time. Had a winning day at blackjack, so good all round today. Dare I use a banana for the first time ? Wtf, :nana:nana:nana
