Re: Ludlow Weds 24th Feb 3.30 2m Cl3 Good to soft Earth magic Has been campaigned over further since 2006 season so on 1st outing for trainer Evan Williams. Only ran once in 2 years prior to this race, and that was winning a grade 3 hurdle at Gowran Park beating Sweet Kiln and Kazal, both decent animals. I think personally this has to be a watching brief especially with a 10lb claimer on board who hasnt ridden a winner yet in 15 attempts Marodima was a decent 2m chaser back in 2007/8 when trained by Paul Nicholls. Hasn't won since leaving Nicholls for Rebecca Curtis who has tried the horse in a number of races lastly 3rd of 3 behind Binocular at sandown. Is a 2m specialist and potentially off a low hurdles rating some 20lb below best chase rating but cannot be trusted on form. Nortonthorpe Lad Last years winner of this race runs off 1lb higher and has a decent record here 1st & 2nd in 2 starts. Can see this returning to form at this course in this race. Has a decent jockey up top also in Farrelly. Novikov Very consistent horse with the figures of 22314124 in last 8 runs. Seems to race regular with 4 outings already this year, all 5 wins have come within a month of a previous run however the horse is 13lb higher than best win which is a concern. West with the wind Another horse that recently went to Evan Williams. Has won 2 novice hurdles before. Ran well in a chase back in December but the absence is a bit of a worry for me. Know the law Another consistent horse especially for jockey Kilcoran who has won on the horse twice. Ran a good race at Kempton over xmas behind Ronaldo Des Mottes and now runs off 121 only 4lb higher than best win. Needs fast ground. Marchand D'Argent Ran in the competitive Scottish County hurdle which has already had a winner in Grandad Bill winning next time out, anothe rsuited possibly from a faster surface and Johnson rides for the 1st time on its 10th run. Handicapper has dropped the horse 4lb which may be enough for it to figure in this grade. Ostland Could be anything but there are others with far more experience in the field. War Party Ran last week at Sandown and soundly beaten behind the Henderson hot pot, cant see it beating a few of these. Nothing is forever Best on fast ground, likes Taunton/exeter, reasonably weighted off 115 (-3lb jockey) so gets in off 112 and has reasonable form off 117. my tissue Know the law 21% (7/2) West with the wind 16% (11/2) Nortonthorpe Lad 13% (7/1) Novikov 12% (7/1) Marchand D'Argent 10% (9/1) Nothing is forever 9% (10/1) Ostland 8% (12/1) Earth Magic 5% (18/1) War Party 3% (33/1) Marodima 3% (33/1) may be some bets amongst this lot tomorrow Paddy Power have price it Know the law 2/1 Novikov 9/2 Ostland 5/1 West with the wind 13/2 marodima 15/2 Nortonthorpe lad 8/1 Marchand D'argent 9/1 Earth Magic 20/1 War Party 25/1 Nothing is forever 25/1 4 horses priced up better than my forecast tissue Going for a split of 9pts across the 4 horses West with the wind 3.5pts @ 13/2 Nortonthorpe lad 3pts win @ 8/1 Nothing is forever 1.5pts win @ 25/1 Earth Magic 1pts win @ 20/1
