Age - 4 yolds hold sway with 5 winning from 10 , inc 4 of the last 5. SP'S - A race where i would have expected Favs to have a higher strike rate than they do , but only 4 have won and 3 of those were odds-on. Other winners were returned at 33/1 [Twice inc 2 of last 4] , 14/1 [last season] , 7/1 , 10/3 and 9/4. Weight - Penalty carriers have won 6 , while non-pen carriers have won 4 so no clues there . The 1st 2 runnings were won by ex-flat bred/trained runners , however since then only 2 winners were GB bred . 3 were French-bred [ 3 of the last 5 ] and 3 were Irish-bred. Nearly all were taking their first step into this grade of NH racing .

BELVANO will most probably start odds-on so it may be worthwhile going for the Irish-Bred 4y-old INVENTOR from the Don McCain yard . The 8yo SPRING JIM could be a bit long in the tooth for this one.

It justified its reputation 1st time up winning by 10L in its novce hurdle. Inventor's form was well franked by Manyriverstocross winning that decent novice hurdle at Wincanton a couple of weeks back. Has the advantage of winning here also on only start & could be the EW bet here in the race at decent odds. With only 7 runners, only 1-2 counts here. William Hogarth is th eonly other one i would consider as it has ran consistently well all season without winning. Selection Inventor EW
