My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME... NOW IN DAY 2

Ok so its been the strangest day I have had for a while, this afternoon I got a phone call from a gentleman representing Betfair, informing me that I had been drawn out of the hat in a prize draw and won entry + expenses to the £10k main event of the WSOPE. So now I'm off to London first thing to be there in plenty of time for the 12pm start to day 1b, I'm still absolutely stunned but very excited and very nervous. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on anything about playing live, especially in such a massive game like this, obviously I realise its late but no doubt someone is about to share the wisdom. :hope Thanks in advance for anything you can say that might help... Oh and also......:nana:nana:nana:nana :drums:drums:beer:beer:cow:ok

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME... Cheers Al, the structure seems pretty awesome with 90 min blinds and 30k starting stack so plenty of time to pick the right spots I hope.

Players will start with 30,000 in tournament chips. Each level will last 90 minutes. There will be a 20 minute break at the end of each level. Dinner break will be after 4 levels of play each day and last 90 minutes. Play will begin each day at 12PM for days 1A & 1B, Sept 26-27. Play will resume at 5:30 PM Sept 28th and 12PM for all subsequent days, Sept 29-Oct 1. 9/26-27/2009 - First day of play will be divided into 2 flights, Days 1a and 1b. Each flight will play (6) levels on days 1a-1b. If the field has not reached 100 players by the completion of level 6 on day 1a, play will continue until 100 players remain.1b will play the exact amount of time as day 1a. 9/28/2009 Day 2 – 5:30pm Start time - The field will be combined together and play (4) levels. No Dinner Break on Day 2. 9/29/2009 Day 3 - Play down to 27 Players. 9/30/2009 Day 4 – Play down to (9) Players. 10/1/2009 Day 5 – Final (9) play down to (1) winner. Tournament Director reserves the right to extend playing time on any day in order to complete the tournament as scheduled. *Tournament Director reserves the right to extend playing time on any day in order to complete the tournament as scheduled.

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME...

Have a beer or 2 before you start' date=' otherwise you'll probably have shaking hands as soon as you pick up a big hand[/quote'] I probably will have a drink but I'm a pretty confident fella and have no issues hiding any nerves I might have and the shakes are deffo out of the question (:lol) but cheers, I see what you're saying mate. :ok

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME...

I'd say 90% of players who play live for the first time get the shakes' date=' if you're in the other 10% then you have no worries + I expect you to win the whole thing. :lol[/quote'] Maybe I'll surprise myself and start stuttering aswelll! :lol I thought about not saying anything on here and just cracking on with it but the added pressure of doing a write up explaining why I donked off my stack would be more entertaining and help with the focus. :ok Anyway gonna get off to bed, I'll prob take my laptop and see if I can get connected in the hotel tomorrow night and update on the story so far (I hope the 'so far' will apply!)..... :cheers

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME... good luck mick:hope best advice i can give is to only look at your cards when its your turn to act, that way you wont give any tells to those seated before you and you can consentrate on what other players are doing while they look at theirs(although with this tough a field i wouldnt think you'll get many tells:eek) also you shouldnt play out of turn:tongue2. next bit of advice is to always announce what your gonna do if your gonna bet.that way there's less chance of string betting etc,if your gonna raise say it and to how much then slide in the chips if your calling do the same:ok just go out and enjoy yourself:nana. as al said play your own game(maybe tight is good to start with so you can bed in a little) and have some fun, should be a great experiance and after all your freerolling;)

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME... NOW DAY 2 Obviously you know how to play just play your own game do what you would do online imo if you'd raise utg with 65sooted online don't be afraid to do it live. One thing I would say is take your time in every hand even if you have 82of and are folding I like to take at least 10 seconds to even fold. even after the flop don't instant bet again take like 10 seconds to bet or check.

Re: My first ever live game - Day 1b of the WSOPE ME... Looking down the chipstacks - so many "names" as a proportion of the field (178 playing) - this is so so different to WSOP ME - Mick's sure to be sat with some "stars".... Chip Counts
