Perth 2nd July

Recommended Posts

Keltic Lord - Perth: 3:50 Was 4 years ago that the horse won its only three races (in quick succession in July)and its last runs pose questions but taking a strict form line it is entitled to be in the shake up at the end. Has the going it obviously relishes and his trainer - not one of the country’s business yards – shows he will travel the length & breadth of the land in search of opportunities with his other runner today being (what 300 miles away?) at Epsom. Might be a bit done for toe as it gets older but worth an e/w interest. Nick Schofield an attractive booking.

Re: Perth 2nd July Got a feel for things again after yesterday, and looks like Perth is my main point of call this afternoon: 2.50 AGGIES LAD (NAP) Short one, at around 11/8, but McCoy in the saddle and over good/g-f/firm, the selection has won 4 out of 5. Rivals would seem to be No Panic, who the pick of his hurdles form could beat the selection, although that doesn't seem to be the case now chasing. Also keep an eye on course specialist Valerius, with 3 wins from 4 here, albeit all over timber. 3.50 TOWER OF LLOYD Around 6/1 - Tower Of Lloyd's mark has gone up eight pounds for a win last time out but his jockey's claim almost negates that, has 2 wins on this sort of going to it's name - unlike its rivals, at least some of that winning form is recent. Keltic Lord should also be one to watch. 4.20 GO SILVER BULLET Around 11/2, to quote SL "GO SILVER BULLET still looks like an animal on the upgrade" and "has romped to two successes since joining the handicap ranks proper and based on his seven length victory last time out he still looks ahead of the assessor despite a eight pound mark rise with only the ground offering any worries." That'll do me, considering it has 3 wins on a decent going. Keep an eye out for Royal Ranger at a price, with some decent point to point form. 5.20 NOW THIS IS IT Around 6/4, against an odds-on favourite, this is the only horse in the race with PROVEN form on the going. To me, this is the % call. Screenscraper won his only start in a point to point last, but odds-on??? Anyway, good luck whatever you back today.

Re: Perth 2nd July 3.50 Perth 3m, class 5 chase here. The ones with winning form around the trip are Keltic Lord (24f), South Bronx (24f), Lord Tee (21f), Giuliani (23f), Tower of Lloyd (24f), Now Then Sid (21f), Ballynure (21f) and Silver Dagger (24f). Despite the large field, I don't actually think that is that competitive. Keltic Lord has something to prove off the back of recent efforts. South Bronx won over CD last year off 10 lb higher so is potentially well handicapped here if having a good day. He was well held at Cartmel off 2 lb higher last time out but will appreciate this step up in trip and will have come on for that outing. Lord Tee won off 96 over in Ireland in March but has been held since off this sort of mark. Giuliani is yet to win over fences in 18 starts and although a respectable fifth over CD last time out, may find a few others too strong. Tower of Lloyd won at Down Patrick last month and is only 8 lbs higher now. That represented a career best after several uncompleted runs and perhaps the headgear did the trick. He remains open to improvement and should go well. Now Then Sid has won off 10 lb higher although was held off this mark at Sedgefield, latest. Ballynure is a course winner but has done all of his winning over shorter. He has slipped to a decent mark but others looks more likely to stay. Silver Dagger has won off stones higher in the past but hasn't won for years and races from slightly out of the handicap. PU lto so is passed over. Suggested bets: South Bronx - 13/2 Hills, 0.25 pt Tower of Lloyd - 7/1 Sporting Bet, 0.75 pt
