glceud
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player I think I understand, just hope no one at Stan James CS is involved with the final distribution of the prize.
avongirl
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player I think I understand Not sure I do. :unsure Is this just a league then? (if so, I'll move the thread). Do the tournaments play to a normal payout but the added value comes from the league positions and being staked to earn points on the cash tables? GaF
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player Yes I think so :ok I've really no idea how good (or bad) this promo is - I suppose it depends on how much it takes to earn 500 points...... voiceofjoe
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player I was 2 Tabling Redkings 10NL for around 3 Weeks (probably 2-3 hrs a day) and racking up about 40 points total.
philossify
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player From the redkings site ..... How Many Points Do I Earn in Poker?Hold'em, Omaha, 7 Card Stud0.10 Player Points are awarded for every $0.10 paid in rake.Tournaments5 player points are awarded for every paid dollar in entry fee (real money tournaments). For example, if you enter a $20+2 tournament, you will be awarded 5 * $2 = 10 points, if you enter a $5+$0.50 tournament, you will be awarded 5*$0.50 = 2.5 points. The points are awarded when the tournament finishes. Please note that different deposit bonuses have different wagering requirements. Now assuming its 0.10 points for every $0.10 taken from a pot you participate in (rather than the actual proportion of the rake paid by you) then if (for example) you were playing $1/$2 fixed limit on siz seater table and participating in 66% of the hands (BB,SB and 2 out of other 4) with an average pot size of $6 (equals 30cents rake = .3 of a point) then you'd need 1670 hands (or therabouts) to get to 500 points, or (counting the missing hands you don't contribute to) about 2500 hands. At (say) 80 hands per hour that would take around 32 hours, or double tabling it would take 16 hours. Now assuming you have a reasonable fixed liimit strategy then you might make 3BB per hour (is that good at fixed limit?) and come out $95 or so dollars in profit. Of course it would probably take less time at NL but involve more risk. Trying to do it via $20+2 sit and go would mean playing 50 S&G's at a buyin cost of $1100 - of course you'd hopefully be able to make win and make a decent profit. I suspect you could get through these 50 S&G's in 10-20 hours playing 2 at a time and assuming the players are available.
glceud
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player So if you did your 500 pts a week and had a break even month you could enter a $500 tourney with the cash they would be taking out of your account at the end of the 4 week period? Or you could try short stacking at some $10/20 nl table. After Stan james I'm having nothing to do with promo's that dont involve at least one Ipod, a digital TV and a dell laptop in the prize structure. But then again I might! GaF
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player Just 37 in so far - I really cannot make my mind up whether to play this or not!!! Starts in 2 hours (19:45 BST)
GaF
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player Ok - lets try and work this out for tournaments - 500 points will require $100 in tournament fees. x 4 for the month and you need to pay $400 in tournament fees to get back $250 plus your profit. Wow - I'm thinking that's pretty good - 62.5% rakeback plus any profit, with zero risk - if you lose you dont lose..... I'm suddenly thinking that this is really good (especially to play an aggressive bankroll strategy, seeing as there's no downside)
GaF
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player Also $250 added to the prize pool - so even if you dont want the "job" - it's avalue added tourney :ok

Dreamkiller
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player N1 GaF :) I'd have joined you on FT but for having JJ .... 3 times in four hands lol ...as you saw H1 (fold to all in and call i think) ... H2 ... call all in and his JK hits a K .... H3 run into QQ ... Still we both have a good chance ... if the numbers go down as they did from Q1 to Q2 then if it continues the points on offer will get less for the last 2 :(
GaF
Re: Red Kings Summer Jobs: Poker Player I'm thinking top 36 will be pretty straightforward if you play all 4 games. So the only real goal at the moment is top 5.....
