Ascot Saturday 9th May

1415 victoria cup slugger o'toole e/w willing to take a chance on slugger o'toole currently a massive 50.0 on betfair. i reckon the place to be in the race is middle, and stall 14 has won this the last 2 years. drawn in 15, the slugger has dropped to an attractive mark after a couple of lacklustre efforts this year. in his defence, the going was wrong lto, wasnt drawn great at donny when fancied. the race today is awash with hold up horses, and i have had to have a real good look to see where the pace will come from. the middle drawn runners should get a good tow from majuro in 13. with such a big field they may split into 3 groups, but i reckon it will be 2, the middle and the stands side. the larger group should come down the middle, so would be hoping that that group would have the edge come the line. if the slugger could produce some of his old form over 7f from last year, the 50.0 could look massive.

Re: Ascot Saturday 9th May Tried to look at the pace in the 2.15 1 >> 2 >> 3 > hold up 4 > hold up 5 >>> lead 6 >> 7 >> 8 >> 9 >>> lead 10 >> 11 > hold up 12 >> 13 >> 14 >> 15 >> 16 >> 17 >>> lead 18 NR 19 >>> lead 20 >> 21 > hold up 22 > hold up 23 >> 24 >>> lead 25 >> 26 >> 27 > hold up 28 >> 29 > hold up Expect the race to split into 3 groups, near side, middle & far side, however they end up merginbg inside final furlong in a big group as the line nears. As you can see, the lead horses are favoured between 17 - 29 as are the hold up horses with 4 drawn between 21 & 29. With 2 lead horses drawn 1-9 also, those in mid draw will have to decide which group they follow. My interest is around draw 16 with Candy's horse Signor Peltro albeit the horse is now 6 which isnt favoured on the trends, i think it has a great chance to place. Maze also in stall 19 if it leads has a great chance of staying there & is now off its lowest rating so far (has a c/d win from 2yo days)

Re: Ascot Saturday 9th May 1.05 - Ascot - DUNCAN Makes his second appearance of the season today, and due to his fantastic win at Epsom first time out, he will not be a double figure price again, far from it. Today, he is ging to go off favourite. The 6/4 (BOG) from Paddy Power seems a fair price, but not one to have a massive bet with. Zaham looks like an interesting runner, and on his top form he is a Group horse. However, he has not been seen on the track for 385 days. Duncan, whose connections are having a tremendous start to the season, should stay this trip, and more judged by his breeding, and I do think he will have the edge over the field here today. 2pts win @ 6/4 - Paddy Power

Re: Ascot Saturday 9th May 1.05 Duncan 5/4 pp bog 10 pts Im a big fan of Zaham as many of here may now and he could well go well even though this is his first run for a long time. However Duncan has often been thought of as a pattern horse and this is his chance to prove it. He won very nicely at Epsom in what looked a competitive handicap off 99 and that was a performance of virtual listed standard. He steps up in trip here but looking at his pedigree, it should benefit if anything and this seems a good opportunity against a main rival in Zaham who may well need the run somewhat. 1.40 Suparvedi 5/2 wh bog 10 pts This one is closely related to the yards good handicapper, supaseus and judging by the way it won easily enough lto, she could be ready to go in again. She got off the mark on her last start of last season and was allotted a mark of 71 which she exploited in good style at bath over a rival that re opposes today. She is up five pounds from that win but she still looks capable of much more and with this ground fine for here, she is the pick. 2.15 Fishforcompliments 9/1 bet3 bog 5 pts e.w 5 places This one has nowhere near as unexposed a profile but it has dropped to a fair mark now and one gets the sense this race has been in the thought process for a while. It was formally well in the 100s but now is low 90s and whilst that indicates a general slump in form, the signs are that a revival has occurred. His second behind mister hardy lto was a fine effort that was boosted yesterday and he is just 2 pounds higher. Also has some history in this race after a fair 7th last year and that was off a five pound higher mark, without a claim and arguably without a good run previously.

Re: Ascot Saturday 9th May 1:40 Ascot: Binfield 1pt e/w 28/1 Skybet Was second to Supaverdi at Bath, and may have been flattered by that, nevertheless the form of that Bath race looks solid and at the prices - looks worth an interest each way. 2:15 Ascot: Quest for Success 2pts e/w 25/1 Sportingbet Won well last time at Thirsk; has winning form at the distance, goes on the ground, and has won on a straight track. A wide open race but quite a few things in Quest for Success' favour and the high draw looks good too.
