The field for me has been narrowed down to just one in Channon's Halicarnassus. Halicarnassus 5pts e/w @ 16/1 paddypower (bog) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Chester Vase 14.45 12/12 had a run in the last two months. 12/12 ran at a grade 1 course LTO. 11/12 made the top 3 LTO. 11/12 were drawn in stalls 1-4. Only one selection again left this time Hills runner Above Average which was a 25/1 winner of the classic trial at Sandown. Re: Racing Trends Ascot 14.15 Victoria Cup 11/11 winners aged 4/6 year olds. 10/11 raced in the last 2 months. 10/11 carried 9st 1lb or less. 9/11 OR 83-96. 9/11 were drawn middle to high. All five of the last winners won a class 2 or 3 handicap. Leaving Maze, Slugger O'Toole & Quest for Success, gonna plump for Maze due to being a C&D winner of the Chesham Stakes (Listed) and Quest for Success who had a good win LTO on firm ground. I think Slugger O'Toole would prefer a bit of cut in the ground. Maze 5pts e/w @ 14/1 paddy power (bog) Quest for Success 5pts e/w @ 16/1 paddy power (bog) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Haydock 15.05 Spring Trophy 12/13 won class 3 or better race. 11/13 were 4/6 year old. 11/13 british/irish trained.10/13 raced in the last 2 months. With No 2,4&7 left i like the look of Vitznau, two top four finishes in Listed events LTO on firm ground and R Hannons decent record in this make it stand out. Leaving Anice Stellato and Floodlit, R Becketts recent record 1 winner and one 2nd in the last 2 years and she won well in her maiden. Anice Stellato 10pts win @ 5/1 paddy power(bog) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 15.15 Derby Trial 13/13 made top 4 LTO. 12/13 returned 5/1 or less. 12 british/irish bred. 11 raced in the last month. Leaving me with Cecil's Father Time. Father Time 10pts win @ 11/4 paddy power (bog). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 15.45 Chartwell Fillies Stakes 13/13 had experience over this 7f trip. 12 were aged 3/4 year old. 11 had less than 9 career outings. 10 winners arrived via newbury,newmarket or france. Leaving Baileys Cacao and Daminiyat Girl the choice goes to the latter who chased home Fantasia LTO even though 7l off still the best of the rest. Re: Racing Trends May 13th York 14.40 Musidora Stakes 12/13 raced LTO at a grade 1 meeting. 12/13 were returned 4/1 or shorter. 11/13 were ridden prominently or won from the front (hold up horses dont seem to have a good record at this meeting). 10/13 had previously seen at least Listed Company before. 10/113 had been drawn in stalls 1-4. Enticement is the only one left and even though being off track for a long time, ran well on its debut as a 2 yo so dont think fitness will be a problem only doubt may be the ground as shes untested on Gd/Fm. Enticement 10pts win @ 2/1 Hills(bog) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 15.10 Duke of York Stakes. 12/13 had won before in a Class 1 event listed or better. 12/13 had won over this 6f trip. 11/13 had raced within the last 2 months. 11/13 were drawn low to middle with 1-6 having the best record showing 8 winners. 10/13 were aged 4-5yo. Leaving me two selections who both had a good run LTO and who should both come on for it but with Equiano being a better 5f horse imo, i'm gonna go with Strike the Deal who i think does his best work over 6f and is proven to handle the ground.
