before i start i would like to thank DE HANNANAH and his lucky 7,10 system for the birth of this system. i have been following DE HANNANAH'S system since i joined the punters lounge. from this interest came the idea of the following system which i am going to test. i don't know if its an original or not but i haven't seen it before. here goes then - it will probably go arse up but what the heck. we will call it the SIXTENFOURTEEN because it will consist of 3 accumalators (6),(10),(14) i am only looking at the top 2 teams in each countries premier leagues. 1> work through each league and give the top 2 and their opponents a number which is their present league position. eg liverpool (2) v sunderland (17) 1a> only use mature leagues eg.at least 8 games played to allow for shock early season results. 1b> teams with games in hand who could go top 2 then also give them a ranking. 1c> the French league will not be included because of their inconsistency. 2>when you get these figures put them in 2 columns one consisting of teams that are in top 2 in their league and playing at home. in the other put the ones playing away. 3>then deduct the low figure from the high one in each game to give the team that is in top 2 a rating. eg liverpool (15) 17-2=15 the higher the figure the lower the risk in theory. 3a> apply the adjustment formula to compensate for different sized leagues. 3b> european competition - teams who have played in europe in midweek will be looked at regarding the result,opponents and travelling. I will use my gut feeling as to whether to include them or not. If i am not happy about my final selection then i will not bet that weekend. 3c> injuries, suspensions, local derby's, and any teams on a roll formwise will be looked at and i will apply my gut feeling about whether to include them or not. 4> accumalator (6) the object of this is to recover your stake hopefully and consists of the safest bankers. only home selections are put in here. pick the six highest rated home teams from your list. 5> accumalator (10) now we are looking to start and win money . include all your selections from acc.(6) and add the 4 highest rated AWAY selections. 6> accumalator (14) as above include all selections from your acc.(6) and (10) adding the next 4 highest rated AWAY selections. i have been playing around with £1 accumalators (14) and have been quite lucky if you loose it will hardly break the bank. 7> staking plan until i know how successful this system turns out to be i am going to keep the stakes small. but if it comes off it still produces a good return. on the acc(6) i will stake £3 on the acc(10) i will stake £2 on the acc(14) i will stake £1 total outlay per week = £6 i will start with a bank of £60 which will give me 10 weeks consecutive loosing bets. 8> i will only use the system each weekend not for midweek matches or european competitions. and not for home cup competitions. Re: SIXTENFOURTEEN well, i wish you luck ralphie BUT if it were as simple as that then we'd all be doing it! liverpool spring to mind! the thing with league position is that it does not give a fair representation of how a team is really playing - what if the team has 2 or 3 games in hand? what if the team play awful at home but are sh1t hot away? what if the main (only goalscorer) is suspended or injured or on international duty or cup-tied for a particular match? what if it is a local derby? what if the away team have hit a good run of form of late? hate to to be so negative and i'm sure in some (maybe quite a few) games the theory will hold true - especially if you look at leagues where a couple of teams head the league and are truely above the pack - basel in switzerland | brugge in belgium | austria vienna in austria all spring to mind - however, in many of the more 'major' leagues a simple deduction of league position cannot justify a selection. PLUS how do you go about ranking teams from leagues of 20 teams to teams from leagues of 10 teams? it is also it has been noted that top V bottom games can throw up all sorts of unexpected results! the underdog factor maybe? also, these are probably going to be selections at the lowest odds going and really not very good value in the long run! these are just my opinions and if you choose to run with it i wish you well, however, i woudl suggest you watch out for 'hot' teams in certain leagues and if you must do 6+ accys then base them on a little research and knowledge! all the best

Re: SIXTENFOURTEEN Ralphie It's certainly an interesting system and you can bet that if you are doing the posting, I'll be following. Although I know where Smudge is coming from, the kind of research he's talking about is both time consuming and really as prone to suprises as any other. Strikes me it's really hard to make money out of any footie accys but the lure is very strong cos it looks so easy! Oh to be a bookie at times! Two suggestions in my mind... 1) Any league you're including must have had time to mature so that the positions are pretty sound even taking games in hand and the "tough" or "easy" starts some teams have have. That said this time of year seems ideal. 2) I know the idea is maybe to cut down on the factors a little to simplify it, but I wonder whether looking at missing out teams who have played tough games in Europe that week, especially away might be a consideration? Best of Luck anyway and I hope the Curse of the Tour is not a factor ;)

Re: SIXTENFOURTEEN Smudge thanks for taking the time to put some points across and i have taken them onboard. just some points. 1> i don't support liverpool but i have seen the stats on this game and there is no way they should not have won. Tosh will back me up on this. i know league position might not give a totally accurate picture of how a team is playing. but it is an accurate long term picture. i did look at sunderlands recent form but as i don't rate howard wilkinson i ignored it. anyone who can gift us eric cantona for 1 million can't be treated seriously. 2> the home and away form will be looked at by using home and away tables. the injuries,suspensions, local derby and recent form will be looked at and acted on if necessary. the system is not set in stone and can be as flexible as i want. 3> the difference in size of leagues will be corrected as follows:- selected team pos=1.....selected team pos=1 opponents position=6.....opponents position=10 teams in league....=12....teams in league....=20 12/20*100=60% 10-60%=4 10-4=6 so both these opponents would be ranked the same. a spreadsheet will be done to save having to calculate it for every selection. 4> if a team is in 3rd place but has say 3 games in hand they will be given a rating. 5>top v bottom i know that these do throw up odd results. but over a period you would be on a loser backing the bottom teams. ask most people who they would have backed on saturday liverpool or sunderland. 6>the acc(6) is hopefully going to recoup the stake on loosing weeks. not looking for high returns. the acc(10) and acc(14) are where i am hoping to make the money. the bet on saturday if it had come up would have given £582-44 for a £6 stake. i am happy with that. 7> there won't be a system anywhere that hasn't got a weakness. it would not be a gamble if there was and as such the punters lounge wouldn't exist. no one can account for weather,sendings off,human error by referee's and linesmen. human error by players. the word is LUCK everything needs the luck element sport,life and gambling. I suppose its that what gives you the buzz when the bet comes off. as i say it may all go arse up - but if i don't give it a crack i will never know. FLEXIBILITY+GUT FEELING will be used Thanks mate

Re: SIXTENFOURTEEN Timmy Thanks for your input the mature leagues point i like because i always loose money at the start of a season. so a league will not be used until they have played 8 games. european competitions teams that have played midweek in european competitions will be looked at and possibly not used taking into account the result,opponents and travelling. if i am not happy with the selections then i will not bet on that weekend. i will use gut feeling. accumalators of 10 to 14 teams i do every week . and have had a fair amount of success. a £1 acc(14) will give you decent return. one win a year and you are in pocket. i would do these bets anyway. the times an odd goal or 90 min equaliser has robbed me of 3 figures for a £1. ... Hi Ralphie - just saw this thread now, and thanks for the credit ;) It seems like you are willing to put in a lot more effort in your system than my more lazy version. On paper, it sounds like a good idea (I have to say that, don't I... ;) ) although some of the teams that have found their way into your combos (Aalborg!?!?) seem somewhat dubious. I personally like to avoid the French as well as the Spanish leagues plus maybe also the Italian in this system, as they are simply to close. The big teams cannot be counted on to win away on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to see how it spans out for ya' :)
