4.30 Ling I usually try and avoid betting in large fields like this if I can but I'm struggling to find much today, and even though he's racing from the bottom of the handicap, I think H Harrison could go okay today. I followed him last year after a couple of wins at Chester when he continued to race over CD there. Unfortunately, he failed to win whenever I backed him, but he is down to an attractive mark of 63 now, bearing in mind he won off 80 on turf 12 months ago. He has previously won on the polytrack - at Wolv in March last year - and showed LTO over CD that he can still act on the surface. He ended up losing by 0.5 lengths to Dawson's Creek, but had a horse rated 12 lbs higher comfortably 3 lengths back in 3rd. At 8/1 with Lads he's backable EW. 0.5 pt EW

Re: Best Bet of the Day - Mon 18/8/08 Lingfield 4.30 - Glencalvie - Win One of only 2 horses in the field that has managed to win a class 4 handicap in the last couple of years. Also a course/distance winner. The other horse that has won in C4 is the likely favourite, Jake The Snake, but he's never won over 7 furlongs. My fellow is an in and out performer with 2 ways of running, moderately and very badly, but that probably applies to most of these. I'm hoping that a return to Lingfield will see him put his best foot forward. He seems to run better here than anywhere else
