8.10 Doncaster One that interests me is Persian Sea, who makes her handicap debut for Michael Jarvis here. She put in two decent efforts over a mile on her first two starts in maidens, finishing 3rd on both occassions. The form of both of those races has worked out well, with Crytal Capella, 2nd in the Nott race, going on to score in a Newcastle maiden NTO, and 1st, Scuffle, winning her next two, both handicaps, and she is now rated 92. Jarvis' filly then contested another maiden NTO, this time at Haydock and finished 3rd behind Navajo Joe and Bramaputra. Navajo Joe won a Lingfield maiden NTO and Bramaputra, rated 90, was fancied enough by connections to have a crack at a listed race in Newbury, although she did finish a well beaten 6th of 9. They tackle a class 3 handicap here and the piece of form that offers the strongest hint that she could have been let in off a good mark here is her third to Scuffle. Fair enough, she was 3 lengths off the winner that day, but she is rated 10 lbs lower than Scuffle and must have a good chance given that she proved on her debut that she can go well enough on Gd/Frm.

Re: Best Bet of the Day - Thursday 17/7/08 230 Catmel: Laureldean Melody EW Tricky race, especially on this track but Laureldean Melody travels well in his races which is what you want around here. Been threatening to win a race but often doesnt find too much but this company is not that great and the step up in trip may play to his strenghts as finishing speed is not as important with the stamina coming into play. Should be prominent throughout and shouldnt be far away here.
