Bowles' Flat thread 2008

Recommended Posts

Ok, taken a bit of time to work up a list of horses which i will publish over the next few days. Ultimately, the aim is to create a "stable" of horses to follow. When the horse runs, i will make my decision based on the merits of it winning (same as my jumps thread). Some of the bets will be antepost & these will be kept to small stakes. Analysis will also be based on group/class/distance. I dont expect to back any horse lower than class 3 in this thread. Bet no.1 Saturdays's Irish 2000 Guineas (1m Group 1) The Curragh FAST COMPANY 1pts ew @ 16/1 Paddypower Godolphin have made thier usual slow start to a campaign with no show in the 1st few classics. However, Rio De la Plata eventually caught my eye running on into 3rd at the weekend in the French 2000. Fast Company was left out of the English version despite beating Ibn Khaldun on the gallops & will have to be at its best to beat New Approach. The horse is one to follow hence the next bet in the Derby in case it runs away with this race. Bet no. 2 The Derby June 7th (1m 4f Group 1) Epsom FAST COMPANY 1pt ew @ 33/1 Paddypower Bet no. 3 3.10 York (6f Group 2) Weds 14th May HAATEF 5pts ew @ 8/1 Paddypower Lightly raced sprinter sure to figure in the big sprints this season after excellent consistent efforts last year. Going to keep on side for Royal Ascot where it is 20/1 for the Golden Jubilee stakes. It is that race plus the July Cup at newmarket that is the reason i am including it. Bet no. 4 3.10 York (6f Group 2) Weds 14th May UTMOST RESPECT 5pts ew @ 9/1 Paddypower Lightly raced sprinter who won nicely on debut at Thirsk & could be worth following although i feel this would be its peak & i would rather see it go for the big class 1 handicaps during the season over 6f. Won the Ayr Silver cup last season fairly easily & should figure well in the sprints all season.
