Sectional times

Recommended Posts

Re: Sectional times I've always thought they were a bit over-rated.........handy for reviewing past races, but not much use for assessing the next race. For example........if you see a front runner has made all and won going away, it's handy to see if the reason is that he had an uncontested lead early and slowed the pace down, then sprinted away at the end of the race. Obviously you'd have to be wary because he might not get those conditions in the next race I guess you can also use them to suss out dubious stayers.......ie did a horse only get 12 furlongs because they crawled along for the first mile........would he get 12 furlongs in a true run race ?.......then again.........will his next race be truely run or a crawl-sprint.?.........sectional times can't tell you that in advance !!
