Re: Boss changing to euros on 1st October

My $ balance only fluctuates on Sporting Odds (Paradise whatever). It's always the same as I left it on Virgin and Poker.co' date=' so presume the way they handle your balance is down to the site and not Boss?[/quote'] Except it will not be a $ balance, it will be a euro balance!

Then when you leave the paradise poker client your dollars are transferred back to the sportsbook. Whereas Virgin etc leaves the dollar balance in the poker client all the time.

Re: Boss changing to euros on 1st October

Was informed by Mermaid that they were changing my account to euros on 1st October. Have checked and found that it will happen on all Boss sites. More losses on conversion rates :cry
are they changing the buy in's as well - coz if they transfer the $10 STT to a 10 euro game then you get less games for the BR (by about a third approx) £100 = 143 euro= 14 games or so £100 = $204 = 20 games or so hmmmm going to effect BR management :) Damo

Re: Boss changing to euros on 1st October Just got an email from Paradise. There's a link to their website suppport pages with more info:

ParadisePoker Euro Conversion From October 1st 2007 the base currency of the ParadisePoker software will change to Euro. This change is being implemented by our software provider – Boss Media in order to satisfy banking regulations with regards to gaming transactions in USD. What does this change mean to you?
  • From this date all Single Table and Multi Table Tournaments will be in Euros.
  • You will still be able to play cash games in USD, GBP and TRY as well as Euros.
  • Frequent Player Points will now be calculated based on Euro and your FPPs will be changed to reflect their Euro value. Please see our FPP Page for more information.
  • All pending bonuses will now be paid out in Euro and not USD. If you have $50 in your pending bonus account, this amount will be converted to Euro’s at the exchange rate on October 1st. For example if the exchange rate is 1 USD = 0.72 EUR then your pending $50 bonus will become €36.
  • The release rate for pending bonuses will now be €5 for every 100 FPP.
  • The prize money for existing ParadisePoker promotions such as PokerLadder and Single Table Superstar will be converted to Euros.
  • The buy-in and prize money for Guarantee and Freeroll tournaments will also change. Please see the tournaments page on our website and software for further details
  • The buy-in of tournaments will change slightly to match the exchange rate.
  • Your hand history will continue to display all hands in the currency that the hand was played in. All tournament hands will therefore be in EUR after October 1st.

Everything else will stay the same. If you have any questions regarding this change please feel free to contact customer support.

Re: Boss changing to euros on 1st October

If you play a percentage of bankroll' date=' then it will have no impact....[/quote'] agreed in general however...... so for instance at the moment if your BR is $240 you can play in the $11 STT games (5% max of your BR) but from Monday you will probably be playing in the 5 euro games as 10 euro will be above the 5% max buy in threshold for STT's as this would equate to about $15 or so and need a BR of $300+ to properly play (these are very conservative figures - I prefer 'how many buy-in's have I got' to properly equate STT's, but thanks to Chris Ferguson every one seems to be talking about the magical 5%). also the pschology of 'stepping' down to a 5 euro game, rather than a $10 game - somehow the 5 euro doesn't seem as big:ok thats the problem with playing in a non sterling currency - if it was in £ 5% is a fiver, not 7 euro or $10 etc it WILL be interesting to see how many players don't 'step down' and continue to play in their 'favourite amount game' they currently play - they will be paying another 42% or so more than they currently do if they play in the 10 euro game compared to the $10 game - am wondering if there is a way to exploit this? cheers Damo

Re: Boss changing to euros on 1st October Email from poker.co.uk now. Just waiting for Virgin...

Important Information At midnight on 30th September the IPN (International Poker Network) is changing it's base currency from USD ($) to Euros (€). IPN is a poker network licensed in the EU, where the majority players are EU citizens. As part of the IPN, Poker.co.uk do not accept players from the US; therefore, we are changing the currency to meet the high demand from our players who find it difficult to calculate exchange rates every time their account balances change. In order to update the software the poker room will be taken down for maintenance during this time, and you will not be able to access your poker account. The next time you log-on after the conversion, you will notice your balance will be displayed in Euros. Your current balance will be automatically converted to EUROs at the exchange rate set by the European Central Bank on Friday the 28th of September. (USD -> EUR 0.7053).,. There will still be different currency tables available after the change to EUROs. Tournaments will change to EUROs, but the guaranteed amounts will be the same as if they were in USDs. One final point to note is that any pending bonuses will also be converted into EUROs. Kind regards, Matt Dale Director, Poker.co.uk
