morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Warm Up The Bike Tony "Bring on the Russians" G has found his prayers answered, a most welcome set-versus-set confrontation seeing him demolish the stack of Hoyt Corkins and doubling himself up to the 100K mark (he's still stacking his chips, so I can't say for sure) in the process. As Tony G said himself, "You flop a set, I flop a set, it's easy." The G-ster's leaving his opponent's looking like rather slim pickings on a flop, the turn and river providing no miracle. As Tony grins like a schoolchild who's just been told school's closed for the year, Hoyt is stoic as he is handed back just 15K in chips

morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Field Update We have seven tables remaining, with 58 players. The average chip stack is around 53,000. No word yet on whether we will be playing to the final table or not today. I've just had word from the Harrah's guys that the latest we can play to is five, and their estimation is we will be playing to 18 players. Nothing is set in stone as yet and the blinds may be able to give us a better indication in the rounds to come.

morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Roland 1, Tony G 0 With the far-from-timid figures of Tony G and Roland de Wolfe sitting next door to one another, the score is sure to rise further than 1-0, but at the moment, Roland has his nose out in front, scoring today's opener with a 15k bet on the river of a board. The 'on ya bike' G-ster called only to be met by the "2 pair" announcement of the Wolfe man, following by the revealing of an for top two. Tony smirked as he mucked, but I think he's already plotting revenge. My prediction for the next post? Roland 1, Tony G 1. Only time will tell... morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Devil Fishes Out A Double Up Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott's ship is at full speed now, prising a double up out of the equally charismatic Rafi Amit with A-8-5-4 making top two pair on an A-8-5 flop before sealing the deal with a boat on the river. The chips went sailing over to the Fish who now has 55,000 in chips. Unfortunately, the boat theme stops there as Devilfish has selfishly left his sailer's hat at home, although the temptation to photoshop one in is very strong indeed... morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates Cunningham Out Allen Cunningham is out. He flopped a pair of kings on a flop. Dario Alioto calls with XX and no help on the remaining two streets for Cunningham. One thing I've noticed about the bustouts is there isnt much hand shaking afterwards. I wager it is not bad nature, but simply because all these players are so stinking rich that losing a £5000 tournament is a mere drop in the ocean to them. Elsewhere the Devilfish has asked a few players to move so he can stare at an attractive massage girl. When they wouldn't he nearly fell off his chair trying to sneak a peek. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates They're Taking Everything I Haaave As Tony G throws the cards through the air, you can detect a slight blemish of frustration creeping into his game, the latest player to take a slice from his cake being Birmingham's David Finney. Short-stacked, Finney made it approximately 10k pre-flop, virtually screaming to the table, "I'M COMMITTED!" (in the poker sense, that is, not committed to the mental institute). However, Tony G woke up with Aces and it was soon on their backs time, Finney adding his remaining 11k to the pot without hesitation. Guoga = Finney: Board = "I've been a bit lucky," observed Finney to his fascinated neighbour.

morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates Rivered by a Pair of Eights With Roland de Wolfe raising to 10.5k with pre-flop, Julian Adamson saw an opportunity to strike with and made it 35k. However, Roland made the call and two players saw a seemingly ineffective flop. Explosions somehow erupted as Adamson pushed in for his remaining 55k, only for Roland to match the bet with his flush draw. So... King high versus Queen high - a classic Omaha encounter if ever I've seen one - and we had a 200k pot. Turn = River = Ouch, a firm kick in the nether regions for Julian - no flush, but a pair of Eights on the river takes it for Roland who is now a real danger in this £5,000 Omaha event. Meanwhile, I managed to catch up with a bleached blonde Julian Adamson on the rail, who although evidently devastated, was still happy to retell the gruesome details and add his thoughts. "I can't believe I just nearly won a 200k pot with King high," he said half-amused, half-bewildered and half-gutted. Hold on, that's too many halves. I never was good at math at school. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates Chris Bjorin eliminated with set over set On a flop of K49, Chris Bjorin and Antione Arnault get involved in a raising war, and eventually they get it all in in a huge pot. Bjorin opens a set of Nines, only to be crushed when Arnault opens a set of Kings. The miracle doesn't come and Bjorin is eliminated. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates Dragon Punch From Ryu "What's his name?" asks a cameraman pointing at Dario Alioto. In response, I point to the back of Alioto's hoody which reads 'Dario 'Ryu' Alioto' (always a giveaway), so I guess he gets asked that question on a frequent basis. I have no idea where the moniker arrives from, but Ryu just threw a fireball at Jon Persson, raising to 11k pre-flop before check-raising Persson's 14k bet to 115k on a flop. Persson was initially lacking in emotion, but then began to huff and puff in that manner players tend do just before they make a reluctant fold. And that's exactly what he did. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha live updates Flying the Flag for Ireland Dave Callaghan is flying the flag for Ireland. He's currently on 60,000 at the moment after seeing little in the way of action. Primarily a cash game player at the highest stakes around, you rarely see Dave in tournaments, and he never plays online multis. However, when he does hit the freezeout felt, he can be as dangerous as any Omaha player around, even managing to cash in the recent 10k Omaha event in Vegas. Possibly the most laid back character here, Dave is as cool as a cucumber in a freezer and never loses his composure. If ever there were a dark horse for this event, then perhaps this is the lad to gamble on.
