Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Since When Was Doyle Brunson Irish? My resident Irish expert here is Mike Lacey. Well, I say expert, when in fact he's just an Irish drunk at the bar who knows his fellow countrymen better than I do. Anyhow, according to Mike, there are at least seven players still flying the Irish flag, and he was able to confirm chip counts on a few of them: Roy Brindley = 32,000 Sylvester Geoghegan = 23,000 Tony Cooney = 85,000 Dave Callaghan = 40,000 Marty Smyth = 18,000 Donnacha O'Dea Doyle Brunson Hoooooooold up... let's go back a second. Doyle Brunson?! Since when was he Irish?? Mike then went on to try and claim Hoyt Corkins, Andy Bloch, and any other American player who wandered into the vicinity... Sigh!

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Tony Cooney, Shark Hunter Tony Cooney just took 12,000 from Humberto Brenes. Cooney flopped top and bottom pair with a nut flush redraw. Brenes was ahead with top two pair and he picked up a second nut flush draw. They both made their flushes on the river and Cooney took down the pot. He increased his stack to 97,000.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha "Hast La Vista, Baby" Austrian hotshot Nikolaus Jedlicka is out, and he was kind enough to share the gruesome details with my good self, as most people tend to do when they feel their opponent, in this case Londoner Emmanuel Sebag, has made a poor play. "I had K-Q-J-4 and tried to isolate a shortstack who'd moved all-in by pushing 27k pre-flop, but somehow the guy with shades and black cap (Sebag) called with A-J-J-T." "I pushed on the K-8-9 flop for 20k," continues Jedlicka,"he called and turned the straight."

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Jesus Arrival Moments after busting out of the £2,500 HORSE final table (where he took 4th place), Chris "Jesus" Ferguson is playing in the £5,000 PLO event. He's sitting on a 12,000 stack after being blinded out for most of the afternoon and ealry evening.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha 15-Love To Patrick Former Tennis pro and coach Patrik Antonius has surpassed the half century mark with 51k, thus becoming one of the early favourites to take down the event. With the board reading 9h.gifkh.gif4s.gif, Patrik check-raised Vegard Nygaard's 3k bet to 9k only to watch Vegard fold quicker than Carl Lewis riding a cheetah. 96 Players Remaining

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Gardner on Garden Leave Another english phrase in the headline there folks. All the money went in for Julian Gardner on this turn 4d.gifqd.gif5s.gif9s.gif Call by Eli Elezra Gardner:4s.gif7s.gifda.gif9d.gif Elezra:qc.gif6c.gifjh.gif9h.gif Eli has the better two pair but Gardner has a big draw. River is a meaningless 5h.gif And Eli Elezra is our chip leader now on 115k. Gardner is out

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha If Anyone Can, Callaghan Can Board = qc.gif9h.gif3d.gif3s.gif Without hesistation, the young but confident Dave Callaghan nonchalantly trickles 3.5k onto the felt, leaving Emmanuel Sebag to call in double quick time. River = jd.gif Dave, pensive as usual, pauses momentarily before reaching for chips, 13,000 to be exact, and pushes them past the line. Adopting an unbreakable poker face with his hand resting on the side of his head as if nursing an ear infection, the Irishman waits patiently for Sebag to make a crucial and potentially expensive decision. After a lengthy pause, Sebag opts for the call and awaits his fate. Perking up suddenly, Dave proudly reveals his qs.gifqd.gif7d.gif2c.gif for the nut full house and quickly swipes up his winnings as Sebag mucks his hand with a frown.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Tom 'Durrr' Dwan Nearly Triples Up A big hand emerged as a short stack moved in for about 10,000 on a top of 3s.gif6d.gifda.gif. Tom Dwan came over the top for his last chips, and Ben Grundy called. Grundy had top two par with the 2nd nut flush draw with as.gifqd.gif7d.gif 6. The short stack was on the nut flush draw with kd.gif4d.gifxx. Dwan had flopped top set with ah.gifac.gifqh.gifx The turn was the 9d.gif, putting the short stack in the lead for the main pot, Grundy in the lead for the side pot, and Dwan out in the cold. The river warmed Dwan up when the 9c.gif hit, giving him a full house, and leaving the short stack player out in the cold. Dwan is up to over 60,000 chips.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Tough Tables: 12 WSOP Bracelets Here's a tough table featuring two world champions and 12 combined WSOP bracelets.... Seat 1: Chris "Jesus" Ferguson Seat 2: Bruno Fitoussi Seat 3: Scotty Nguyen Seat 6: Rafi Amit Seat 8: Max Pescatori Rafi Amit is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner including one in PLO in 2005 when he beat Vinnie Vinh heads up. He picked up his second bracelet at the 2007 WSOP. Max Pescatori won his only bracelet in 2006 on the same day that his home country of Italy won the World Cup. Jesus Ferguson is a five-time bracelet winner including a victory in the 2000 main event. Scotty Nguyen has four WSOP bracelets including a victory in the 1998 main event. And although Bruno Fitoussi has not won a bracelet, he came close... on two different occasions. He was the runner-up for the $50K HORSE event at the 2007 WSOP when he lost to Freddy Deeb heads-up. Also, Fitoussi took second place in the 2005 WSOP Razz championship event which lasted until 6 am.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha "Show Me The Bluff" With Eli Elezra in the game, you're always in for an entertaining time with plenty of banter for us eager beaver bloggers to feast on. As I meander on over to Eli's table looking for any sign of chippage in the middle of the table, I notice that Eli has thrown out 3k (3 orange chips) before him and received calls from both Ted Lawson and Jani Sointula, not to mention Doyle Brunson who I'm sure wasn't influenced by Eli's "Oh, you have to call now". But call he did and all four players saw a jd.gifas.gif9d.gif flop. The action was checked round to Eli who announced to the dealer in charismatic fashion, "I want to bet the pot". 16.5k was the reply, so, as promised, Eli bet the said amount which was enough to force his three opponents to fold. "Show us the bluff," demanded Ted Lawson. "I'll show you three cards," responded an ever-smiling Eli. "Here's the bluff," he said flipping ks.gifqd.gif10h.gif, "... and here's the hand, he continued as he revealed a kd.gif. "You owe me one now."

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Max Pescatori and Jesus Ferguson Eliminated on Same Hand Jesus Ferguson got all his money in the pot with trips and a straight flush draw. He didn't make his hand and busted out when an unknown player dragged the monster pot with a full house. Max Pescatori had a smaller full house and headed to the rail as well.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Nice Diddly Pot For Flanders Ned... sorry, Tim Flanders is in the zone (where ever that might be) after being down to the diddly felt with just three lonesome 500 diddly chips. He's flying high now on 60,000, however, after winning a few beefy pots, the latest being a turned diddly straight with qc.gifac.gif4h.gif7s.gif on a jc.gifkc.gif9h.gif10s.gif3s.gif board. The freefalling Emmanuel Sebag (now on 35k) was the victim, calling 8k and 4k bets on the turn and river respectively. diddly do [ps. this will be the last poking fun at Tim's surname post as I have recently found out that he's a black belt in karate.]

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha An Old Wives Tale Four young voluptuous ladies are currently railing the buoyant Tony G, the Lithuanian/Aussie currently on 61,000. "Are those your wives?" I asked jokingly. "Sure they are," replied Tony. "Where are the others?" "They're still coming." After a brief pause, I sought clarification, "They're not really your wives are they, Tony?" "What do you think?" was the response. "Naaaah, no one would marry you, surely." At this point I ran away from the table like a rocket propelled whippet as Mr G is slightly bigger than yours truly and could probably inflict quite a lot of damage.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Roland on the River, Parts One Through Three Roland de Wolfe has had such a crazy 15 minutes, this reporter has sat down to write these hands up three times, only to be called back by the yelling and general racket coming from de Wolfe's table. Hand One - Roland, on a big stack, gets it all in on a K J 4 flop with K 6 x x against A A x x. The 6 comes on the turn, and Roland is healthy. Hand two, de Wolfe gets into a 62,000 chip pot with 4 6 7 10 with two spades against A A 9 5 on a flop of da.gif9s.gif5s.gif. The turn is a spade, which gets DeWolfe there, but the river is a 9, which gives his opponent 9's full, and Roland is bleeding. Hand three - Gary Jones makes it 2,200 from the button. de Wolfe (small blind), and Donnacha O'Dea (big blind) call. The flop is A 8 6 with two clubs. O'Dea leads at the pot for 6,500, Jones moves in for about 15k total, and de Wolfe calls. O'Dea only has about 3,500 left after his pot sized lead, and those go in as well. O'Dea has two pair with A 6 x x Jones has flopped a set with 6 6 3 3 DeWolfe is on a Jack high club draw. The turn is a club, the river a blank, and Roland sends two of the U.K.'s finest on their way. Roland is healthy.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Huuuummmmmbeeerrrtoooooo. No. The very short stacked Humberto Brenes took his last chips into battle on a flop of A 6 10. The call was small, so Tom Dwan made it. Humberto had an ace, while Dwan had a 6. The turn was a 6 and that was about all for Humberto, who told the shark he could have the rest of the day off. Humberto is out.

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Amit Omits Rafi Amit calls a river bet from Nenad Medic, and when Medic announces, "I have no pair," Amit opens a pair of jacks. Medic folds and the table asks to see all of Rafi's hole cards. A debate ensues and the floor is called over. It is ruled that any player at the table can request to see the hand as the betting round is complete and the bet was called. Rafi opens his entire hand, revealing jh.gifjs.gifac.gifah.gif, apparently forgetting that he also had aces in the hole!

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha "You Can Have It, Amit" "Big pot here," murmurs Gary Jones from the rail. I dash over to stumble across a sumptuous four-way pot, three players, including Rafi Amit and Phil Gordon all calling Hoyt Corkins' 6.5K preflop raise to create a circa 25K pot. Flop = 10d.gif8s.gif4d.gif All the players check round to Rafi Amit, who bets out 30K, the majority of his stack. "Go on Rafi," cheers Gary under his breath. The two limp callers quickly throw in their cards, only for Hoyt to ask for a count. His cowboy hat uncharacteristically removed, the bald-as-a-coot Hoyt mulls over his decision pensively, rubbing his chin and eyeing up the stack of Amit. He glances down at his own stack, checks his cards and continues to dwell. Meanwhile, Amit's eyes stay fixed on the felt, his right hand nonchalantly riffling chips as if he doesn't have a care in the world. After a while, the initial raiser opts for a fold allowing the bracelet winner to snap up a big pot uncontested. "What do you think Hoyt had?" I asked Gary. "Well, he could easily have had aces," replied Gary. "He's good enough to fold, especially on that flop. aces isn't much of a hand without the flush draw."

Re: WSOPe £5000 PL Omaha Mark Vos Spotted at Bar; Conclusion = He's Busto Due to the odd circumstances of the lack of playing space at the Empire Casino, the field was split up. Some of the players were downstairs in the poker room while seven tables were scattered throughout the casino on the upper floor. We're doing our best to keep track of players, but sometimes we lose track of a player once a specific table breaks. For example, we thought Mark Vos was still in today's event until I spotted him buying cocktails at the downstairs bar. It appears that he's been out for a while. In order to bring you the most comprehensive coverage, we shall spend more time at the bar trying to locate various missing players.
