ubermonkey1
thought i'd do a write up on this as there doesn't seem to be a lot of live action in kent:sad. its only in its second week as a poker venue but i definately recommend it:ok. its well run, friendly and also has a nice decked smoking area :dude:dude:dude at the moment they run a £10 freeze on a monday at 8pm with 50 runners paying to 9th £150-£20 . it seems they are starting a thursday league in the next week or so with a decent package for the winner (think it was for goa tourney)this worked out at about a tenner a game as well. played there last night with my brother in law and had a decent result with £50 for 4th:nana. it had the usual mix of fish, crazed gamblers and a few good players but all played in a friendly spirit with a bit of banter :). stts were being played as soon as enough people went out (think they were £5 a go)so even if you have a early exit there's still a bit going on:ok. if anybody is intrested i would recommend pre-booking your seat as it was packed, luckily a couple of people didn't show last night as we were 1 and 2 on the wait list,a pretty good turn out for its second week :eek . also you need to join which costs £5 but you dont seem to need id etc
ColU_FC
Re: rileys club gillingham My experience at Rileys, Watford, is just about the same as ubers although we don't have a problem with getting too many players. Just to add one point to what uber has written. Membership is £5 per year. This gets you into every Rileys in the country, not just the one you signed up at. :ok

heniek31
Re: rileys club gillingham Will keep that one in mind. It looks like they caught up with the club in Canterbury :sad. IMPORTANT From 1st August 2007 we have had to suspend activities as we no longer have use of our city centre venue. We are currently seeking new premises and will inform members when there is more news.
mattywallace121
Re: rileys club gillingham It's really picked up in our local Rileys in Hartlepool. Monday £20 Freezeout Tuesday £10 Freezeout Wednesday A £10 league is starting Thursday £10 Rebuy And a new league is starting on a Saturday I would recomend the Rileys games to anyone, rake is much cheaper than a casino and the atmosphere is chilled out and relaxed. If we don't have nowhere to go for our home game we go down and rent a table, 60p each including chips and cards you cant complain really. Oh and the £1.50 a pint for poker players helps :beer
ColU_FC
Re: rileys club gillingham Unfortunately, I fear poker at Rileys will be somewhat more restricted from 1st September 2007 because of: http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53298 It seems to me that clubs like Rileys will lose out compared with what they have now whereas pubs that currently can't run any kind of game will gain from the new rules. ubermonkey1
Re: rileys club gillingham yeah they did say it will be £5 entry soon:sad mind you only a £150 top prize at the mo so no big money anyway, more of a fun night out than for making decent returns;) the league sounds ok though:ok
