225 Newbury : King Harald (16/1) Quite a conundrum this Handicap, Alderburn is fav and is progressing well but a hike in the weights may just be too much, the other fancied runner is novice Brumous, he will have to improve no end in my opinion. A look at all the other runners to find an alternative just reveals a lot of horses that need to put poor runs behind them. One horse that may be able to give us a run for our money is King Harald, very well thought of in his novice days before winning at the Festival off a mark of 123, went up a lot in the weights and then got injured and was forced to have a year off. On his comeback run he was up against Kauto Star and then ran at the festival when making mistakes and finished well down the field. Now racing on the ground he loves and a track he has won at and down to 127 he could be about the reach peak fitness and if he can get in a rhythm out in front he could be value at around 16/1.
