2hcb
Start Northern Ireland DrawWales 19:45 5/4 21/10 7/4Northern Ireland: Maik Taylor (Birmingham City), Michael Ingham (Wrexham); Tony Capaldi (Plymouth Argyle), Stephen Craigan (Motherwell), Michael Duff (Burnley), Aaron Hughes (Aston Villa), Sean Webb (Ross County); Grant McCann (Barnsley), Steve Davis (Aston Villa), Keith Gillespie (Sheffield Utd), Sammy Clingan (Nottingham Forest), Damien Johnson (Birmingham City), Chris Brunt (Sheffield Wednesday); Kyle Lafferty (Burnley), Ivan Sproule (Hibernian), Dean Shiels (Hibernian), Peter Thompson (Linfield). Wales: Danny Coyne (Burnley), Paul Jones (QPR), Gareth Bale (Southampton), Danny Collins (Sunderland), Richard Duffy (Portsmouth, on loan at Swansea City), Steve Evans (Wrexham), Craig Morgan (Peterborough United), Lewin Nyatanga (Derby County), Sam Ricketts (Hull City), Ryan Valentine (Wrexham), Andrew Crofts (Gillingham), Simon Davies (Fulham), Carl Fletcher (Crystal Palace), Jason Koumas (WBA), Carl Robinson (Toronto FC), David Vaughan (Crewe Alexandra), Craig Bellamy (Liverpool), David Cotterill (Wigan Athletic), Jermaine Easter (Wycombe Wanderers), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), Chris Llewellyn (Wrexham), Paul Parry (Cardiff City). My first football thread! Barring any last minute drop outs this Welsh squad looks stronger on paper with David Healy (NI's only source of goals) injured. I'd expect both sides to be taking this fairly seriously as we both will look for any wins we can. NIs recent form is of course very good, but with it being a friendly the crowd will probably be less pumped up and less vocal and I have allready touched on Healy being missing and these were the 2 key factors in NIs recent successes. Craig Belamy has been playing well lately for Liverpool without scoring and I think he'll be very hungry for a win and a goal on Tuesday. There is a fair amount of competition for places in the Wales squad and everyone will be looking to proove themselves to Toshack and in some cases to their club managers. i think our strong pacy attack in Giggs, Bellamy, Cotterill, Koumas and the on fire Easter will have too much for NI and we'll get the win here. But then i would say that wouldn't I!! Wales to win @ 7/4 - general edit - bbc reports Ryan Giggs is likely not to play any part tonight. I still think we are decent value but don't anyone bet anyhting big now that Giggsy isn't playing

Darren
Re: Northern Ireland v Wales (Tue - 7:45) Over 2/1 on a Wales win at Windsor Park? Thats generous. Northern Ireland aren't so good in friendlies, we lost to 10 man Canada not that long ago. The atmosphere will be good, for a while. But that won't intimidate Wales. We are without Healy and his backup, Feeny. Looks like we have a bit of an experimental side for this one. Wales look pretty strong, last time out at Windsor they beat us 3-2, and I'd expect to see NI go down in this one. I won't put money against my teams, but I think Wales to win has value, and the 1-1 draw crops up a lot in our friendlies as well.

We have no attack for them. Healy has scored 5 of our last 6. We rely on him. Thompson aint gonna score (bet he does now to make me look an arse) and we are play a different line up. I'm not a betting man but I'd back Wales.
Darren
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Having Feeney out has to be seen as an advantage surely?! And that from a Luton fan. Oh boy. Who do we pick instead. Peter Thompson?:lol I think I have bigged him up to score. He is what he is though, as ex postman and a total irish league player. Lafferty can run his arse off for 60 odd minutes, but he is beat after that. Been to Windsor for a few friendlies, its nothing like a qualifier game. The noise and interest will drop off and it will probably affect our players. That will suit the Welsh, and the attack they have should be enough to beat us. But NI do do strange things in international football under Sanchez. But without a proper front line we will stuggle. 2/1 on Wales is long

avok
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Event: Australia vs Denmark Reasoning: Australia is crippled by the loss of too many key players for numerous reasons and the coach has summoned a makeshift replacement in the last minute. Lucas Neill (West Ham), Craig Moore (Newcastle), Luke Wilkshire (Twente), Michael Beauchamp (Nurnberg) & keeper Mark Schwarzer (Middlesbrough) – the entire Australia backline are out through injury. Central midfielders Jason Culina (PSV) & Mark Bresciano (Palermo) will also miss the match as their wives are expected to give birth this week. Finally, skipper Mark Viduka is a serious doubt after suffering a strain in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Saturday. The replacements are Jacob Burns (Wisla Krakow), Jon McKain (FCU Politechnica Timisoara), Shane Stefanutto (Lillestrom), Brad Jones (Middlesbrough), Michael Petkovic (Perth Glory), Neil Kilkenny (Birmingham), Nick Ward (Brighton) & James Wesolowski (Leicester). Denmark will have a full strength squad as they prepare for a crucial Euro2008 qualifier with Spain next month. Regulars like Thomas Sorensen (Aston Villa), Daniel Agger (Liverpool), Per Kroeldrup (Fiorentina), Claus Jensen (Fulham), Christian Poulsen (Sevilla), Daniel Jensen (Werder Bremen), Dennis Rommedahl (Charlton), Jon Dahl Tomasson (Villarreal) & Martin Jorgensen (Fiorentina) will be available for selection. This is in stark contrast to the Danish squad – comprising of Scandinavian-based players – that recently finished touring America in January. Nevertheless, the month-long tour will work to Denmark's advantage since Australia's last get-together was back in mid-November. All in all I see big advantage for Denmark in London. This neutral location is more in favor of Denmark as it is still in Europe and historically foreign teams have always struggled when traveling such long distances. I will take the early price as it already started to drop. Pick: Denmark to win 2.28 @ 8/10 - Betfair
avok
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) From http://bendigo.yourguide.com.au/detail.asp?class=international%20news&subclass=sport&story_id=554433&category=sport Viduka out of Socceroos match By Valkerie Mangnall Mark Viduka joined the Socceroos' long injury list and will miss this week's friendly against Denmark in London. The Middlesbrough striker had been in doubt after a calf muscle problem forced him off the pitch late in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the English Premier League. And after Australia's only training session ahead of the Denmark clash at Loftus Road on Wednesday morning (AEDT), teammate Vince Grella looked set to captain the side. davidmphill
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) I wouldn't touch Wales with anyones money in this fixture. As has been said, the Welsh defence has been decimated by injury and the the rest of the squad isn't fairing too well either. Likely to be a very weak defence with just Gareth Bale in as a regular. Even Lewis Price of Ipswich will be missing in goal. Once again, there's too many players from League 1 and 2 clubs for my liking and it'll be very interesting to see how Easter gets on following his exploits with Wycombe this season. As usual going forward we'll have a cutting edge but as ever with Wales of late the defence worries me.

Aarun
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) I fancy doing Over 2 goals, for now I see the Aussie/Denmark game and the Brazil/Portugal game like good ones to do. Especially Brazil at 2.06 it is great value, it is a friendly and being played in England I think we will see an exhibition match with a 2-2 or 3-2 win. cluelessG
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Bulgaria - Latvia Starting lineup for Bulgaria: Ivankov (GK - Kayserispor) - Kishishev (Charlton), Tomasic (Levski), Tunchev (CSKA Sofia) , Zanev (Litex), Iankov (Hannover), Marian Hristov (Wolfsburg), Peev (Amkar), Jankovic (Dalian Shide), Yovov (Levski), Todorov (Portsmouth) No Berbatov or Bozinov in attack, but maybe we'll see them in the second half. Latvia is without Igors Stepanovs, Andrejs Prohorenkovs, Andrejs Rubins, Maris Smirnovs, and Jurijs Laizans. It was raining yesterday so the pitch is not in best condition. Bulgaria skipped training yesterday due to teh rain. I expect a solid defensive play from Latvia - most of their players play in the Latvian League, which is due to start in April, so I can't see them being in great physical condition. Verpakovskis (Getafe) and Gorks (Blackpool) should be OK. Bulgarian coach Stoichkov says he will use two different lineups for the two friendlies in Cyprus and I think he might be underestimating the Latvians. I will go for Under 2.5 (odds around 1.8) and Bulgaria to win (odds around 1.75) with small stakes as this is a friendly.
G:G
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Mali - Lithuania Mali (0) (Asian Handicap) @ 1.91 (Expekt) Mali are a good team, even without star player Kanoute, who is doubtful to play tonight, and Lithuania have some questionable players for tonight, what’s for sure is that 1st goalkeeper is out. The season has not started in Lithuania yet, so many players should be far from best form, from what I gather 6 players are from the Lithuanian league. This is of course a risky bet fro many reasons, but Mali have beaten teams like Tunisia and Morocco, so they should have a pretty good chance to get a win this evening, the match will take place in Paris, so I’d guess that Mali will have close to home advantage on and off the pitch, 8 players in Mali’s line-up play in French clubs. Lithuania's line-up: 1. Karčemarskas Žydrūnas - FC Dinamo 2. Malinauskas Mindaugas – FBK Kaunas 3. Stankevičius Marius – FC Brescia 4. Skerla Andrius – be klubo 5. DžiaukÅ¡tas Rolandas – FC Saturn 6. I am with you on this one. Bulgaria is without Stilian Petrov (left the team in 2006), Dimitar Berbatov (did not come to camp), Marian Petrov (injured). Yovov cannot hit a water if standing on a boat. Peev and Hristov have not played for years and their shape is awful. Same more or less holds true for Iankovic. Although I am from Bulgaria our team is getting worse with each day under the reign of Stoychkov. Until he leaves there will be no good national team. He is in conflict with all the stars. I put a bet on Latvia AH +0.5&1.0 @ 1.86 betfair I hate to say that but laying Bulgarian teams had made me very good profit so I see no reason in stop laying them. Almost put a straight win on Bulgaria based on reputation. Finally I choose to stay away from this match. There are so many other match coming up. Youssef
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Brazil v Portugal (20:00 GMT)1.983.504.60 Can somebody me explaining why the price for Portugal so high is ? This game will be playing in England, and i think it will be not to easy win for Brazil. It's a bookie thing I reccon. Everybody just loves to bet on Brazil, so they try to balance this market to gurantee a win either way! (Or should I say ANYWAY, as this is a 3-way market)

2hcb
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) I was expecting a bit more positivity from any other welsh posters on here!! we've been playing some decent stuff under Toshack and have the attack to hurt NI. Even though our defence is not the strongest Healy is missing which I think is huge, he has been literally NI's only source of goals whilst players like Davies, Koumas and Bale will threaten for us aside from whoever plays upfront. I will only be bettig small now that Giggs is said to be likely not to play (bbc) but I think that playing a side who on paper are very average without Healy we are still good value. Tipster
Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Aren't 2 Hibernian strikers, Ivan Sproule and Dean Shiels, scoring when Wales has missing 3 of 4 their regular defenders and Burnley's subs. GK is playing on the goal ? I think yes.. and Over 2.5 GOALS is value bet..
