So I'll try this way; In US sports such as Basketball and NFL the main markets are pts spread betting (that you would call a handicap bet), Total Pts betting (self explanatory?), and Money Line or S.U.(you'd understand this to be the match winner. So. I've just finished watching Kansas City @ Oakland Raiders. The markets would be; pts spread (or handicap) Kansas City(-7) OR Oakland(+7). You choose which team you're backing. That means you think Oakland will lose by less than 7 or Kansas will win by more than 7. The odds are set at around 1.90 total pts - This match was set at 36.5 total pts scored in the game. You can bet on the over if you think more will be scored, or you can bet under if you think less. The odds here are also set at around 1.90 Money Line (American bettors say a team will win SU or Straight Up, but we're basically talking about who will win the match. The odds would have probably been Kansas @ 1.22 and Oakland @ 2.65. Last night it was Kansas 20 Oakland 9. Straight up. is no added or minus points to either team . so last night KC won the game 20 points to 9 points . so the win bet. was KC @1.22 the spread bet on this market was oakland +7 so score in the end was KC 20 oak 9 so you still lost if taking oakland +7 as the score was then KC 20 Oak 16 And total score was 29 so taking your advice and backing under 36.5 would be a winner ...
