Mr Intensity
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July BTW, does anyone know who gets a new engine this weekend? I've completely lost track of the cycles since I was at Imola:$ :$. I think I've figured it out for the big ones: Alonso - no problems this year, so 10th race so this is his 2nd race on that engine. M Schumacher - changed engine after qualifying in Monaco, since then no problems, so got a new one for Canada so this is his 2nd race on that engine. Raikkonen - retired in Monaco so would have taken a new one for Britain and used that for Canada. Thus, he gets a new engine. So a slight edge for Kimi especailly considering how hard Canada tends to be on the engines. I'll leave it till after practice, but I fancy a go on Kimi to win before qualifying;)
Mr Intensity
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionRAIKKONEN to win E/W (1/5 1,2,3) (Each-Way) Strength5/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceSportingodds @ 6.00 (Back) ReasoningNo changes on the cars from last week and a similar type of setup here so I think we'll find the relative pace very similar. Kimi was awesome in the first stint last week and looked to be just about getting the better of Alonso. He was also carrying a little more fuel which makes me think he has the outright pace to win and if it wasn't for a couple of pitstop problems he could well have won. I think they can get it right this weekend and pick up there first win of the season. Renault have struggled for pace here in the last couple of years (relative to where they have been at other races) and although they looked decent in practice I'm still a little unsure about them this weekend. I think in the past they've struggled for balance in the infield section - that could be the same this year, yesterday Fisi was 3rd quickest in practice and fastest of the race drivers however he was 5th in sector 2 - this is where he should have been faster really as the testers using full revs won't have an advantae in this part of the lap. Ferrari should be pretty good this weekend but they were very negative last week with strategy and I don't think they believe they can compete in outright pace. As usual McLaren did very little running in practice but I think they're primed for a good week. Couple of extras: Kimi gets a new engine this week compared to Alonso and Schumi who are on there second race so a little edge there. Also, we're getting 2.00 on the place part of the bet compared to 1.57 best price for a podium, so this price really appeals.
moiraz
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July Alright Lads, Hope you dont mind coming into your F1 thread. With the way the grids set up I can see a lot of traffic for Alonso. I expect a good drive from Massa so Michael should get a good chance to take advantage and stetch out a lead. Mr Intensity
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July Good luck moiraz:ok Is that the handicap with bet365? Looks a bit scary with Massa being given 15 seconds and the likes of JV 55 seconds:unsure. My selections are coming up soon;)
Mr Intensity
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionM SCHUMACHER / MASSA duel forecast Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 3.25 (Back) ReasoningHello! I've got no idea why this isn't favourite. The Ferraris were awesome round here in final practice then turned it up even more in qualifying and I can't help but thinking this will be a walk in the park for them. They are a second a lap faster round here than anything else and that is down to a very strong bridgestone tyre working perfectly (also the Michelin looks conservative). I understand Renault are running more fuel than them but I just can't see it helping given the pace differential. Even if Fisi manages to jump Massa at the start the lighter Ferrari which is much quicker down the straight will surely blow back past in the first couple of laps. This is almost a bet on both Ferraris finishing, and has to be taken at this price. SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionWinning margin UNDER 7.999 seconds Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceSkybet @ 2.20 (Back) ReasoningSkybet have played around with the number of seconds and the price on this market all season and I've loved taking advantage of it. Here they have increased the time and gone odds against on the under and I think that it is a superb bet. The first few races of the season piled under but we've had a few go over lately, which is why they've moved the price. However, I've already mentioned how I think Ferrari will run away with this, and I certainly think we could have a formation finish today which would be well under. Even if they don't run away, that will mean it will be a close race with the Renaults, and there would still be a great chance to go under. SportMotorsport EventUSA Grtand Prix SelectionWEBBER to finish in the points Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceSportingodds @ 3.00 (Back) ReasoningStarting 12th with a decent fuel strategy I think this has a very good chance. The Bridgestones are strong here and Webber really should have made it into the final session. I think on race pace he'll be pretty decent and should get stronger as the race goes on. Backing a guy in this sort of position I think is usually a decent bet, especially with both Hondas in front of him. Webber's had a few poor races lately and I think it's time for him to have a better one today. SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionR SCHUMACHER to finish in the points Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 2.37 (Back) ReasoningThis looks like a solid price considering he's starting 8th and is on the right tyres. He never compromises race strategy with a light fuel load so I think he can have a strong race from this position. The Toyota looks a decent package round here and he should be pretty close at the end. This is surely 50/50 at the worst and needs to be taken. SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionVILLENEUVE v Button Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 2.10 (Back) ReasoningButton is usually a good one to oppose in the match betting as he is always better in quali than the race. The Honda still has problems in the race even last week we saw him dropping back and being passed by DC towards the end. Now here against Villeneuve, I think this is a great spot to oppose. The BMW has looked very good round here (and in general) and I'm sure they've got good pace and good strategy here. Button mentioned in an interview that he needs to pass JV early and it sounds to me that he thinks he's quite a bit lighter, and I think that's correct. BMW have tended to go heavy in qualifying and then come through in the race. Villeneuve has been driving extremely well lately and I really don't think he's the outsider in this match bet. SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionBMW SAUBER v Honda Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/PriceBlue Square @ 3.25 (Back) ReasoningI added the Sauber bit as it looked weird just writing BMW! We may need a bit of luck for this, but I think its still got a decent chance of happening. This is the part of the grid we're interested in: 4. BARRICHELLO Honda 5. ALONSO Renault 6. VILLENEUVE BMW 7. BUTTON Honda 8. R SCHUMACHER Toyota 9. RAIKKONEN McLaren 10. HEIDFELD BMW The Hondas always drop off at some stage in the race and I can't help but think it'll happen again. They are very sensitive to the tyres and with the Michelin looking a little weak here I think they'll be affected more than the other teams over the course of the race. We have to expect Alonso to get away and not be involved with this group. Also Kimi who is on an extremely heavy fuel loads I'd expect to jump these guys later on in the race. I've already mentioned that I fancy Webber to get involved with the points and all of that will push these guys down to the bottom end of the points. Fighting for the lower placing I really fancy BMW to have Hondas number. I think the BMWs are much heavier fueled and out of the 4 of the cars I see Villeneuve ending up ahead. Heidfeld also has been strong but had a problem in qualifying which will hopefully be sorted out. I can see both of the Hondas being pushed down the order during this race (as so often happens) and BMW certainly have a chance of ending up on top. Mr Intensity
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July One more: SportMotorsport EventUSA Grand Prix SelectionM SCHUMACHER fastest lap Strength10/10 Date02/07/2006 Bookmaker/Price>Betfair @ 1.93 (Back) ReasoningSimply given how fast the car looked yesterday, and they look to be on a lighter fuel load, this means a very big chance for Schumacher to get fastest lap. You could think that he may not need to push 100% and be vunerable to Massa in the smae car, but I think he will be pushing coming up to the first pit stop, possibly because he wants to get out ahead of the Renaults before they stop! Massa has only had a faster lap once this year in Spain, where the Ferrari wasn't too great, and I can't see it happening here. This looks a very solid price and is worth taking, probably more value than on the straight win. £1313 available.
laidbackbloke
Re: F1 USA Grand Prix 2nd July I took Massa at 1.96 for a podium position on BF ........................ i'm always hesitant to back Massa, as he tends to have a brainstorm now and again and crash out.......................... but given the performance of the ferrari this seems very generous. He's in a really fast car and starting in 2nd position should mean he doesn't get involved in any scrapes at the start of the race........................ As long as he finishes he should be on the podium ......................... actually MR I's bet of M SCHUMACHER / MASSA duel forecast also looks a great bet :ok Michael Scumacher fastest lap @1.93 is my other bet ............. the ferrari's look to have far more pace than the others and i'd expect Schumacher to beat Massa ...............At those odds it looks an attractive proposition to me:hope
