jtw1
An interesting strike-rate of 3 wins from 5 mounts for trainer Neville Callaghan catches my eye and they have a couple of decent chances at THIRSK this afternoon. 3.45 - SANDS OF BARRA - Won last time out at Yarmouth after being up with the pace and pulling away. This being a change in previous tactics of being held up. Race was only 9 days ago and he's up 5lb for that win ; a bit of a negative is that he's never won over a mile , but the ground shouldn't be a problem as it won at Brighton on g-soft. According to Startingstalls.com there is an advantage to be drawn high in 1m races on g-soft and as Sands of Barra is drawn 13 of 15 we'll hope their right. [since 1997 in 6 races over the dist with 15 runners there have been 4 winners drawn either 13 or 14] 5.20 - GOLDEN ASHA - Ran a great race at Newmarket 14 days ago when 4th at 33-1 in a Class 2 H'cap , only beaten 3/4l. Hopefully will not be too inconvienienced by the ground [been placed on g-s] and only raised up 1lb in the ratings after his last outing. Won over the distance and has [hopefully] a decent draw of 11 in a 15 runner race. Nevile Callaghan has had 3 wins from 12 runners in the last 14 days [another 3 were placed] so it would appear the stable is in form . SANDS OF BARRA is around the 8.0 mark and GOLDEN ASHA is 4.5 with BETFAIR

mowgli77
Re: McEvoy/Callaghan I think the Johnstone horse in the 3.45 is big at 25-1 but its drifted out. Small ew for me.
