Is it possible to switch skins?

Example: Sporting Odds and Virgin are both run by Boss Media. I find the colours on SO much easier on the eye than those on Virgin. So is it possible to take the colour scheme from SO and put this on Virgin? My son has warned me that the installation is scanned before logging on so it may not accept any changed files. What I am really asking is...has anybody already done this and, if yes, then in thicko terms, can you please explain how?:hope

Re: Is it possible to switch skins?

Great idea mate (although Virgins' sickly red doesn't agree with my eyes). :D I doubt that its easy or even possible though...... :sad :sad :sad
You can mate :ok not sure about Virgin, will have a look, but i've got a programme that changes Party/doyles/fulltilt/paradise/multi/absolute amongst others :ok Sure I can sort something for Virgin etc if you want?

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? Artpoker looks fun and one of the home page screens looks to fit the bill. May have a dabble tomorrow and see what can be done. The worst that can happen is I mess it all up and have to download again!

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? To switch the Virgin Skin to the SO Skin is surprisingly easy to do......took a couple of minutes.... Most Boss Media is stored in the C:/Casino directory. Virgin is an exception and is stored in C:/Poker. 1) Make a Copy of the C:/Poker/Virgin Poker/Data directory (for backup purposes - so if it goes wrong you can easily get back to where you started. 2) Goto C:/casino/SportingOdds Poker/Data. Select All files (CTRL A) and Copy (CTRL C) 3) Goto C:/Poker/Virgin Poker/data and paste files (CTRL V) 4) When prompted "Would you like to replace the existing file", then click on "Yes to All" And you're sorted - SO Skin on the Virgin site!!!!

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? :ok Gotafancy that will do nicely thanks:ok Just have to remember it is Virgin now. Somehow Virgin is very hard on my eyes and SO is so much less ''in yer face.'' Looked at the contents of the Data folder earlier but no preview would come up, so didn't know which files represented which parts of the skin. May start messing about, now that it loads up and plays properly, to try and get the Virgin logo over the Sporting Odds skin...should be easy once the exact file is identified. Thanks again.:clap

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? I think I'd better stop before my brains explode... I have just put back the original Virgin (Main_bkg.jpg) and (tx.bkg5.jpg) so my Virgin now has the Virgin logos back but with some parts of the colouring from SO. Right better get back to losing my money, can't be having this much fun ALL the time!

I hope everybody realizes that if they do this, then they should change back before making a withdrawal. Otherwise you'll be paid in strangely coloured banknotes.

Re: Is it possible to switch skins?

Was wondering whether I could make a PL Skin for Boss - however none of the bmp's will open in Photoshop - any ideas anyone?
I am sooooo stoooopid with computers... I don't even dare trying this without online help from someone :$ :$ :$ But I would really like to switch it... And GaF... MoFace helped me doing a pic.. he did it in Photoshop...with some faces from the Birminghamtrip, Punters Lounge were written there, and some other stuff... Would be great to have our own background :clap :clap get to it ....

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? I've been trying to figure it out for a while GaF. They are not standard bitmaps (have tried other extensions too such as gif, jpg etc with no luck). I'm figuring they are in some sort of raw format, just need to get the correct bit depth and dimensions to prove it. I'll keep plugging away ;)

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? GAF just PM me asking I knew anything about these Bitmaps etc. with having one to play around I dunno but can you not try to open one up in a web building programme ie frontpage etc? or even animation shop? Like I said without the BMP to play with I can't shed any more light onto your problems.

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? It might be a PVM - an archive of PVR file PVR - texture files. Convert these for viewing in any regular image viewing / editing app with the bundled utility, "pvr2bmp.exe" I might not even on the right road but its worth trying to get hold of this pvr2bmp.exe and trying. Ill see if I can get it.....

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? I know that tx.bkg5.jpg gives the background image on the outside of the table...so resized one of my jpg files, renamed it and replaced the above file...absolutely nothing showed up as background...so that doesn't work!

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? coders often strip some irrelevant info from the headers of images in an effort to conserve space and prevent modding.. I would imagine this is the problem... some sites probably don't bother but it's definately a consideration Paul

Re: Is it possible to switch skins?

Cheers Paul - any way round that?
well they are bitmaps you say, so i guess using some program to analyse the headers would tell you if you are on the right track.. then you would no doubt need a program to re-engineer the NEW .bmps in the same way.. pain in the ass.. will ask my coder buddies as this is their forte not mine :) custom skins do sound like a good idea - no wonder these damn companies do this lol. there is of course an alterative... making your own client to connect to the servers (this is a good idea given that most clients are rubbish and badly designed) . you would need to work out the protocol though (using a packet sniffer and a bit of patience).. perhaps someone has already documented the protocols used by particular poker rooms? probably not public (avoids the old "lets go make a distributed poker bot..." kiddies who are reluctant to do the hard work themselves) If anyone knows of such a resource please PM / Email me. Regards Paul UKGF

Re: Is it possible to switch skins? Cheers Paul - sounds wayyyy too complicated - would give something a bash if it was straightforward - but for that level of involvement, think I'll stick with it as it is!! Cheers anyway :ok
