CHESTER MAY MEETING STATISTICS

Recommended Posts

The Chester May meeting takes place this week. It is the main meeting at Chester, which is officially the oldest racecourse still in operation. It is the smallest racecourse in England.

The main races are the Cheshire Oaks and Chester Vase on Wednesday, the Ormonde Stakes and Dee Stakes on Thursday and the Huxley Stakes and Chester Cup on Friday.

TRENDS AND STATISTICS

I have looked at the statistics for this meeting over the last 9 years and these are my key conclusions.

It is best to steer clear of favourites and 2nd favourites. Those forecast 3rd, 4th or 5th in the betting have a record of 70 wins from 514 runs with a profit of 116 points at Betfair Starting Price.

Horses that came 3rd or 4th last time have generated 50 wins from 318 runs with a profit of 86 points.

There is a general belief that horses drawn low will be at an advantage due to the tight nature of the track, however those drawn in stalls 1 and 2 have recorded big losses. Those drawn in stalls 3 and 4 have the best record with 55 wins from 307 runs and a profit of 72 points.

The horse should have had a reasonable break. Those that last ran between 22 and 79 days ago have 58 wins from 418 runs with a profit of 19 points.

Beaten favourites have a very poor record with 14 wins from 148 runs and a loss of 67 points.

Hopefully these stats will help you make a profit over the next 3 days.

Good luck!
