StevieDay1983
Fenerbahce vs Sivasspor The Turkish Super Lig is entering its final days and the battle for European qualification is still raging on. Fenerbahce play Sivasspor in a 7:30pm BST kick-off on Sunday night at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium with both teams still firmly in the fight to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League. Can either of them take all 3 points to boost their European qualification aspirations? Fenerbahce are still under the temporary charge of caretaker manager Tahir Karapinar after the dismissal of Ersun Yanal back on 3rd March. The team is currently in 7th place but only 1 point outside the Europa League qualification spots and 4 points adrift of the Champions League qualification places. It's been just 1 loss in Karapinar's first 5 league matches in charge so spirits are high. It's also 4 home matches unbeaten in the league including three straight victories. These home games always deliver goals for Fenerbahce with an average of 3.8 goals scored in their last 5 league games. Sivasspor are riding high in 3rd place. The league title might not be possible any more but the chance to secure qualification to next season's Champions League is theirs for the taking. Manager Riza Calimbay has done a terrific job of guiding his team to this position having finished 12th last season. Results have faltered lately though. It's now 4 league matches without a win and the pressure is starting to crank up a notch. Even more worrying is the fact that the team haven't scored in over 270 minutes of league football. A bad time to start experiencing a goal drought. I have to back the home side to win this game. Fenerbahce are looking much improved over recent games and it seems that Sivasspor are going off the rails at the worst possible time. The odds from the bookies and ELO ratings show that there's not exactly a lot of faith in the home side getting the win but I think the price on offer makes it too tempting to ignore.
