Obviously difficult race  ...but interesting that top rated is sametegal who is Nicholls horse ,...he farms this race and this is a typical Nicholls horse ...low mileage ...lightly raced and totally unexposed ....at 9/1 he looks a very strong ew bet and I doubt he will go off that price ....he can take this on his trail to one of the big chaps at the festival ....Ultra gold won impressively last time and has chances here but hasn't faced this calibre yet and that last race looked a bit weak but we value at 11/1....UN beau roman is a dark horse ...has patchy form suggesting he's capable of winning this on best form ...he's up and down though but at 33/1 he's vastly overpriced if its an on day

Greatwood Gold Cup

Verdict:

Wide open at this stage as you would expect but my shortlist consists of Art Mauresque, Little Jon, Generous Ransom and La Vaticane. You have to respect Paul Nicholls, his record in this is unbelievable but I’m going to side with Little Jon, back on a track where he shines and the Pipe runner La Vaticane who travels well in his races and will hopefully finish off his race here on better ground. He’s much better off at the weights with Ultragold on their running at Ascot and the Pipe yard won this race a few years back with another young French bred in Madison Du Berlais.
