Scoop6 – Saturday October 24th

No winner of the Tote Scoop6 last week means we have a nice pot of £139,165 to start the Win Fund with this Saturday. Two unlucky punters fell at the last leg last week but the place part still paid £50 so it’s well worth having a stab. This week’s action comes from the flat at Newbury and Doncaster and we also have a couple of jump races from Cheltenham.

Leg 1: 1.50 Newbury

A Group 3 race over 7f to start with and a race the Hannon yard often does well in. Their representative this time round is Madrinho who won his maiden at Ascot and then finished runner-up three times in decent company. Well beaten in the Middle Park last time but this is easier. The Godolphin runner Start Time looks one to keep an eye on as he steps up in grade while Zonderland is another who could figure in the finish in what is an open contest this year.

Selection: Madrinho 16/1 Coral (Zonderland)

Leg 2: 2.10 Cheltenham

A 2m chase and plenty of old favourites lining up such as Next Sensation, Eastlake, Astracad and Dunraven Storm. The one I like though is Sew On Target from the in form Colin Tizzard stable who had three winners at Wincanton last weekend. The 10yo won here last December off just 3lbs higher and last time out ran well at Market Rasen until weakening on the run-in. Boondooma and Workbench are improving horses to consider and I wouldn’t write off the Philip Hobbs yard so Dunraven Storm has to be on the shortlist.

Selection: Sew On Target 7/1 William Hill (Workbench)

Leg 3: 2.35 Doncaster

A Saturday wouldn’t be the same with out a competitive 5f sprint and last weeks race at Catterick provides a handful of runners taking each other on again. Arctic Feeling won that for the Fahey team and is drawn high along with Union Rose, Confessional and Kimberella who all reoppose. Steps should be finishing off well despite top weight and Demora who was third in this last year to Dungannon comes here in form after a good win at Leicester last time. Frankie Dettori gets the leg up and gets ideal conditions. Dungannon is running below par at the moment compared to last year but is well handicapped on his best form.

Selection: Demora 7/1 Hills (Union Rose)

Leg 4: 3.00 Newbury

A 10f handicap won by the Meehan yard last year. They have Faithful Creek this time and he needs to step up on recent efforts although his mark is looking handy enough. Top weight What About Carlo won here last month in a similar heat, a 5lb rise makes life a bit more difficult. Silvery Moon and Spa’s Dancer could go well and ran in the race last year but the one I like is Kastini. A multiple C/D winner who just loves it here at Newbury and goes well with cut in the ground. Keeps on progressing steadily and while this is his toughest task to date he looks sure to run well once again.

Selection: Kastini 6/1 Bet365 (Spa’s Dancer)

Leg 5: 3.10 Doncaster

Bottom weight Argus is well fancied after winning twice in his four career starts to date. The 3yo was only 6th last time to Mustard at Newmarket but that was much tougher than this. Storm Force Ten was an impressive winner last time at Chester, off the track for 169 days is a slight worry but his 4th to Trip To Paris in April looks pretty good now. Ed Dunlop saddles Oasis Fantasy who has been threatening to win a decent race; he has yet to deliver and isn’t getting much help from the handicapper.

Selection: Storm Force Ten 15/2 BetVic (Argus)

Leg 6 : 3.20 Cheltenham

Roalco De Farges won this last year and the Hobbs yard have won it for the last three seasons. The 10yo lines up again but has not shown the same form since. He may well go beat fresh so not completely out of it. Champion Court will have plenty of supporters after rattling up a hat-trick in the summer races and the in form Twiston-Davies yard will have high hopes for Big Casino who won last time out. Azure Fly also won last time and now races off a career high mark, he looks the type to keep on improving and is still only a seven year old so has time on his side.

Selection: Azure Fly 9/1 Betfair (Roalco De Farges)

perfect pasture   99.02

confessional    98.98

robot boy     98.95

classy competitive sprint ... .lots in with chances .....robot boy is undoubtably very well treated at moment and could pop up at huge price but just cant seem to put it together on course so isnt backable despite big price ...confessional is very competitive and has ew claims ...for me the collateral form of adams ale and arctic feeling looks strong and although adams ale should win in a rematch on paper ...it could just boil down to where pace is ...and arctic feeling is still competitive off a mark of 92 so cant discount running well again ......10/1 on both is decent odds ...ew plays

arctic feeling 2 pts ew  10/1 willh

adams ale 2 pts ew 10/1 bet365
