Flat Racing ~ Saturday 19th Sept. (Including Scoop 6)

Recommended Posts

Scoop6 – Saturday September 19th Two lucky winners shared over £450,000 last week and will attempt to pick up the Bonus of over £250,000 by selecting the winner of the Ayr Silver Cup at 2.35. A new Tote Scoop6 Win Fund starts at £58,000 and the action is from Ayr and Newbury. The feature race this Saturday is the Ayr Gold Cup at 3.45 with £180,000 up for grabs. Leg 1: 2.00 Ayr We kick off with a Group 3 Fillies contest over 6f and the likely favourite Priceless looks a good place to start. She romped in on her debut at Haydock 15 days ago and connections are wasting no time in finding out how good she is. On ratings the Hannon horse Wahatdoiwantthatfor comes out the best. She has won three times but was put in her place at this level last time out so needs step up. Of the others Silhuette is unbeaten in two starts and could be anything and is entitled to go close. Selection: Priceless 11/4 William Hill (Silhuette) Leg 2: 2.35 Ayr (Bonus Race) The Silver Cup over 6f and a wide-open contest as usual. Richard Fahey has been mopping up the Saturday handicaps and will be fancied to go in here with the improving inform George Bowen. He won at Newmarket in August and has followed up at the Curragh since and his 5lb penalty gets him in here. I like the yards other runner Tatlisu who was 8th in this last year and ran well at Ripon recently, he looks sure to be in the shake up in this company along with the likes of Eccleston and Barnet Fair who is due a big run from the Dandy Nicholls stable who does so well in these big sprints. Selection: Tatlisu 20/1 Skybet (Barnet Fair) Leg 3: 2.50 Newbury A very competitive Class 2 handicap here and with ground likely to be on the soft side it should pay to stick with horses with proven stamina. Top Tug wont mind the cut having won on good/soft and was a fair third in a similar race at York over 12f last time. This drop in trip will suit in these conditions and looks the one to beat. The Dascombe yard could do with some luck and their runner Cymro bids to follow up an easy success at Haydock last time, he should be thereabouts along with Mange All and Field Of Fame. Selection: Top Tug 7/1 Coral (Mange All) Leg 4: 3.10 Ayr The Doonisde Cup over 10f and Eagle Top will be very hard to beat here if running anywhere near the form that saw him finish second to Postponed in the King George last time. Hasn’t won since Royal Ascot last year so this looks like a confidence booster. Plenty of decent sorts in opposition if not quite the same class and the likes of Scottish, Mutakayyef and Top Notch Tonto will make sure the jolly doesn’t have it all his own way. Of the others Exosphere is progressing nicely and worth keeping an eye on for the future. Selection: Eagle Top NR : Scottish 13/2 BetVictor Leg 5: 3.25 Newbury A 5f sprint and last weeks Doncaster winner Steps bids for a quick follow up. He won the Portland in good style but can fluff the start and wouldn’t be bomb proof here. Caspian Prince will set things up in front and I fancy Justice Day to go one better than his second to Mecca’s Angel here last year. He won nicely last time out and should be ok on the ground. Wind Fire would be a decent alternative and will find this a lot easier than some of his recent tasks. Selection: Justice Day 5/1 Paddy Power (Wind Fire) Leg 6: 3.45 Ayr : Ayr Gold Cup Twenty-five runners over the straight 6f and at the head of the market we have an interesting clash between the unbeaten 3yo Don’t Touch and the very experienced top weight Jack Dexter. The latter is attempting to bury the hoodoo and be the first Scottish trained winner since 1975. Jack Dexter seems to run here every year and was third in 2013 and the Goldie yard is in great form. Don’t Touch won the Great St Wilfrid to make it four from four so far but is up another 5lbs and faces his stiffest task to date. Of the others I like the bottom pair Hoof It who bounced back to form last time out and Kevin Ryan’s Lexington Abbey who comes back after a break and has Pat Smullen in the saddle. Selection: Lexington Abbey 20/1 Ladbrokes (Don’t Touch)
