Jump Racing ~ Saturday May 9th

Swinton Hurdle 3.25 Haydock: Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Swinton Hurdle) (2m) The first big jump race of the new season is the Swinton Hurdle and it looks a very competitive renewal. Evan Williams took the prize last year with Ballyglasheen who goes again and he also saddles a useful sort in Court Minstrel. Philip Hobbs is double handed and his best chance looks to be with Cheltenian who won well last time out in a similar race. I’ll give a chance to Brian Ellison’s Vodka Wells, the ex-French 5yo won nicely off 125 at Hexham last week, his weight rise gets him in here and is turned out quickly by his shrewd handler. Now he has got his head in front he could improve no end and might be a well-handicapped animal. Selection: Vodka Wells EW 14/1 BetVictor ____________________________________________________ 1.45 Haydock: Pertemps Long Distance Hurdle (3m) The opening race on Haydock’s mixed card is over hurdles. 10 runners line up for a three-mile contest, which will take plenty of getting. The top weight The Govaness has won her last two races quite easily but now steps up in trip and is 13lbs higher. I’m sure she will run well again but I just fancy Tony Martin’s Edeymi at the weights. He didn’t really get into it at the Festival but was a good fourth at Musselburgh over this trip earlier and that form looks good enough here. He has been Novice Chasing lately but makes the trip over from Ireland for this and the tips worth noting. Selection: Edeymi 5/1 Skybet

Re: Jump Racing ~ Saturday May 9th Trainer Brian Ellison had this 5yr old mare down to run Yesterday at Market Rasen but they never got the going they were after, he's been sniffing about all over the place with her looking for one thing................Heavy Going. She turns up in the last at Hexham and gets her VERY desired heavy going, the wetter the better. Not much of a price.........2/1 & 3/1 showing, that wont be around long when the cat gets out the bag, she's a tasty mare and they could hook her up with the on-course hot dog trailer and she'd still win. Jockey Dougie Costello needs no indicators, all he need do is steer and enjoy the countryside. ?5:30 Hexham - Smart Talk ?Confirmation of NR from Market Rasen Friday - Yesterday. http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/results/08-05-2015/market-rasen/result/670031/next-meeting-sunday-17th-may-standard-open-nh-flat-race-div-1
