This is the wrong thread but I have just placed a bet and havent set up the season specials thread at all so wanted to register it 0.5 pts e/w Demarco Murray Most Regular Season Rushing Yards 67.00 1/4 1-4 Stan James The resoning behind the bet is he won it last year and will be running behind the offensive line unit that allowed the most rushing yards before contavct last year in Philadelphia. I am aware Adrian Peterson was gone last year and he returns as favourite and I am also aware that Murray took an awful lot of work last year, but this is a crazy price if he stays healty *****I will say I am a little worried that they may palp this - bet365 and betvictor were both showing Demarco at 50/1 yesterday and are now both showing around 6/1 with Latavius Murray at 50/1 - Stan James have both listed at 66/1. I am hoping they let it stand as they refused a large amount of the stake I tried to get on (I had been waiting for someone to bet this each way) If they palp it I will be back to advise of that*************

Super Bowl Outright - 1pt win Green Bay Packers @ 7/1 with Ladbrokes To win the Super Bowl you need a very good QB and this rules out over half of the field immediately. The likes of the Cowboys, Broncos and Steelers all have top QBs but I've discounted those sides for a variety of reasons. Dallas have left me scratching my head by not replacing Murray. Yes, they have a great O-line but they still need a top RB to take advantage of that. To lose so many yards and not bring in a suitable replacement is baffling. Romo will be under more pressure this term without a top RB and I'm not convinced he'll be able to handle it. There's been plenty of talk about Manning taking less reps this season but that isn't enough to convince me he'll be able to perform consistently in the latter half of the season. Reducing his workload should help but the guy is still another year older and I have no reason to think his body will last the distance. The Steelers were very tempting but I also like the Ravens and the Bengals in their division. They could get through to the play-offs with 9 wins but their schedule is full of games that could go either way and the price isn't good enough to suck me in. The final shortlist was made up of the Patriots, Colts, Packers and Seahawks. I don't subscribe to the opinion that the Patriots will have it tough in the AFC East. Yes, the Jets and the Bills have upgraded their rosters but they are both still lacking in the QB position. The Dolphins should have a good year but a lack of difference makers on offense could cost them. The loss of Revis and the over-reliance on Gronk are both good enough reasons for me to go against the Patriots. I'm a bit envious of the Colts' fans this season. Andrew Luck should record some monster stats with that offense and I expect them to be involved in a few high-scoring shootouts over the course of the next few months. Despite that loaded offense, I am happy to take them on because they have again neglected their defense. I'll be interested to see how they do when they come up against a tough defense because they do look like they'll leak plenty of points. For that reason I'm happy to take them on at the prices. That leaves the Seahawks and the Packers. Both of these sides will be up there again this year but for me the Packers just have the edge. Yes, they have a big gap to fill at WR but if any QB can make up for the loss of a star name it is Aaron Rodgers. The Packers’ roster is full of talent and I think they have more than enough to get by without Nelson. I think the difference between these two sides will be home field advantage and, looking at the Seahawks’ away ties, I fully expect the Packers to have it. The game between the two in Green Bay could be crucial and we have to remember that it was probably only dodgy calls from the sidelines that prevented them beating the Seahawks in Seattle. I’m more than happy to take an interest in the green and yellow at 7/1.

Most Rushing Yards – 0.5pt e/w LeSean McCoy @ 12/1 with Ladbrokes (1/4 odds 1-3) In 2015 DeMarco Murray blew the competition away in this category. He was unstoppable behind that Cowboys O-line and ended up being clear at the top by a few hundred yards. This year I have opted for a guy who has a lot of expectation on his shoulders. LeSean McCoy is without doubt one of the best RBs in the league. In 4 of the last 5 years he has rushed for over 1,000 yards and he probably would have done so in 2012 had he not missed 4 games (he rushed for 840 yards in the 12 games he did feature in). McCoy was 3^rd in this market last season and he’ll surely get as many carries, if not more, this time around. The Buffalo Bills are without a good QB and because of this, as well as the lack of depth at RB, we can be confident that McCoy will get a lot of reps. Having been dumped by the Eagles in the off-season, McCoy will no doubt want to prove any doubters wrong and at this price I am happy to get on him doing so. Note: There is some doubt over McCoy’s participation in Week 1 but looking at their schedule I still think this price has some value in it.

Most Receiving Yards – 0.5pt e/w Dez Bryant @ 10/1 with Ladbrokes (1/4 odds 1-3) There’s no need to go in to much detail about Dez Bryant’s credentials. He has recorded over 1,000 yards in each of the past 3 seasons and came up with crucial plays almost every time the situation demanded them in 2014. The reason this price appeals to me so much is because of the way the Cowboys went about their business in the off-season. Throughout the 2014 season they consistently relied on DeMarco Murray and Bryant to come up with the big plays. Murray exploited the good work of the O-line time-after-time, recording some big numbers along the way. He left Dallas for Philadelphia and for some reason the Cowboys decided not to replace class with class. This means that Romo will be expected to pass his way out of trouble more often this season and whilst I am not convinced he is the man for the pressure situations, I am convinced that Bryant will get enough touches of the ball to pass the 1,000 mark again. Bryant got paid this off-season and hopefully, come the end of term, he’ll bring us in a nice winner.

Super Bowl Outright - Green Bay Packers @ 7/1 - Ladbrokes Mike McCarthy's men should have been squaring off with New England a year ago. One boneheaded play on the onside kick against Seattle and that was all she wrote. In that game Green Bay were much the better team, stifling Russell Wilson on defence and doing enough on offence, despite conservative playcalling. McCarthy gives up the play calling this season and much like Jason Garrett in Dallas did, he will have a greater control over the team in general. The loss of Jordy Nelson hurts the team but Aaron Rodgers is in the same mould of Tom Brady, he can get production out of just about anyone. He is that good. Eddie Lacy should be a bigger factor now with Nelson out and if Green Bay can secure homefield advantage they are right in the mix in the NFC. Most Receiving Yards - Odell Beckham Jnr @ 8/1 - Ladbrokes ODB took the league by storm last season, notably with the insane one-handed circus catch against the Dallas Cowboys. For all this skills pulling off those insane grabs in warm ups, he's no one trick pony. The former LSU man, missed the first four games of his rookie season with injury problems and was eased in for his first three games that he did play, notching yardage totals of 44, 28 and 34. However in Beckham's final nine games of the season he tallied over 100 yards seven times, with 90-yard receiving games in the remaining pair. Even with those pedestrian opening trio of games, he 108.8 yards per game, highest in the league. WIth a full off-season under his belt and with his quarterback Eli Manning a year more familiar with Ben McAdoo's west coast offence, Beckham could be in for big things this year. Beckham has the quickness to work both in the slot and outside so there is plenty of potential for avoiding double coverages. If he can stay injury free and avoid a second-season slump, Beckham looks value in this market. Most Rushing Yards - Jermey Hill @ 12/1 - Ladbrokes & William Hill Another second year man out of LSU, Jeremy Hill has real potential to challenge the leading rushers this year. The powerful runner had to play second-fiddle to the slender Gio Bernard early doors a year ago. However he took the starting job and ran with it after getting the start in place of the injured Bernard. Despite only starting half the season, Hill was good for eighth in the NFL in rushing. His offensive line is top 10 at the very least, with stalwart blindside man Andrew Whitworth showing no signs of slowing down at age 33. Bernard should be relegated to third down duties, but Hill showed his potential out of the backfield, catching 27 of his 32 targets, so he's not lock to be brought off on those passing downs. With Andy Dalton still showing signs of inconsistency, Hill may be relied on even more by offensive co-ordinator Hue Jackson, who hopefully will saddle up his big horse and ride him much the way Dallas did DeMarco Murray last term. Of course this market could well be moot if Adrian Peterson picks up where he left off two seasons ago. However there's enough question marks regarding his age and injury potential to make his price unappealing. Offensive Rookie Of The Year - Jameis Winston @ 8/1 - Ladbrokes How often do you see the number one pick of the draft as big as 8/1 to win rookie of the year honours. Of course this looks a top offensive rookie class with Marcus Mariota and Amari Cooper worthy contenders. However Winston looks to have the best weapons around him of the trio to have the most success this term. Wide receivers Mike Evans Vincent Jackson are both tall trees and with the shaky offensive line, Winston will have no issue with throwing the ball up and letting his big men make a play on the ball, much in the same fashion he did with Kelvin Benjamin in Winston's Heisman and BCS title championship winning season. The former Seminole, despite off-field maturity issues was constantly praised right through the draft process on his football IQ and ability to read a defence coming out of a pro-style offence. With the NFC South being arguably one of the weaker divisions in football, it could be a good season for Winston to cut his teeth in the big leagues. Defensive Rookie Of The Year - Randy Gregory @ 20/1 - Paddy Power & Bet365 Somewhat of a homer pick here (Cowboys fan) but it certainly has legs, given the role and amount of playing time Gregory will have in Dallas. The former Nebraska man was a sure-fire first round pick until a failed drugs test at the combine saw him fell to the bottom of the second. The Cowboys, no stranger to players with off-field issues took a flyer on him and all throughout camp and pre-season he's done nothing but impress. Gregory will get the chance to impress right from the off - just not in a starters role despite Greg Hardy's four game ban. He'll be limited to pass-rush situations where he can use his speed and quickness to harass quarterbacks, while he continues to refine his run-stopping game in practice.
