Re: Womens World Cup Qualifiers Europe > Weds 17th Sept 2014 There are seven groups. The seven group winners qualify, and the four best runners up (according to competition rules) play off the eight qualifying place. Most issues are already decided, but there are a few still open, which makes a few of today's games vital. The UEFA article linked above gives details. As for the other games, there might be a few surprise results as there is nothing at stake and teams may try different players.

Re: Womens World Cup Qualifiers Europe > Weds 17th Sept 2014 Group 5 Norway Women v Netherlands Women Norway have won the group. Netherlands need a draw or win to guarantee a best-four runners up spot for the playoffs. But Netherlands can probably afford a narrow defeat and will still qualify because their goal difference is so much better than the other playoff contenders. I think Norway are slightly the better team, but Netherlands may be more motivated here to get the draw they need to guarantee a playoff place. Norway won the reverse game 2-1, but Netherlands had a lot more shots on target in that game, and overall their recent shots stats are better than Norway's. I think the odds on the away team are high enough to back them here ... Norway W v Netherlands W Netherlands W or Draw 2.0 Bet365 Stake: 3 points

Re: Womens World Cup Qualifiers Europe > Weds 17th Sept 2014 Group 7 France Women v Finland Women France have already qualified as group winners. Finland need to WIN here to be sure to qualify for the playoffs as a best 4 runner up. A draw might be enough, depending on the result between Ukraine and Wales. As far as I can see, if Wales beat Ukraine a draw will be enough for Finland. If Ukraine beat Wales, Finland will need to win. If Ukraine and Wales get an unlikely draw (with both needing to win), then Finland can afford to lose. So realistically, they need at least a draw here. France won the reverse game 2-0 on Saturday after dominating the game (shots on target were 9-0). France have already qualified so there's no pressure on them. Realistically Finland need at least a draw here - as far as I know, that will be enough as long as Ukraine don't beat Wales (it's down to goal difference). I think Finland will focus on defending early on, and try not to concede. They will know that if they are too open, France will score easily. I think there is a good chance there could be few goals in the first half, and the odds are quite attractive ... 1st Half Goals Under 1.5 2.05 Will Hill Stake: 3 points

Re: Womens World Cup Qualifiers Europe > Weds 17th Sept 2014 Group 4 Sweden Women v Scotland Women This is a shoot-out to win the group - the other side will go into the playoffs. Sweden lead the group and are the better team but Scotland are steadily improving. Sweden won the reverse game 3-1 in June. Here, Scotland need to win by a 2 goal margin and with a score greater than 3-1, to finish above Sweden on h2h stats. Sweden need a draw or win. I do think goals are likely here, with Scotland needing three and Sweden being very good on the counter. Odds on overs are worth taking I think ... Over 2.5 1.6 Stake: 6 points Over 3.5 2.62 Stake: 2 points Over 4.75 4.75 Stake: 2 points All with William Hill Total stake: 10 points

Result: France Women 3 Finland Women 1 Bet lost Stake: 3 points Return: nil I made a mistake here - I forgot that by the time this game kicked off, the result of the Ukraine v Wales game would be known. Ukraine had beaten Wales earlier in the day, and that meant that Finland knew they had to WIN here - which meant they would have to attack instead of defending.
