kevshat
The second European Tour event of the season takes place in Germany this weekend and it always carries a bit of extra importance given the name attached to it. It is live on Eurosport all weekend too. Draw, schedule and format here: http://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp?event=
kevshat
Re: Paul Hunter Classic - 22-24 Aug Tournament preview: 1pt ew M.Allen to win Paul Hunter Classic 16/1 Bet365 (1/2 1-2) Mark Allen was a runner up to Mark Selby in Latvia a couple of weeks ago but having led 3-0 in the final he will probably be disappointed not to win the tournament. In that tournament he beat the likes of Mark Williams and Anthony Hamilton so he is clearly in good nick and will be out to land a title having agonisingly missed out on one earlier in the month. Allen remains one of the top players in the game and in terms of rankings only Robert Milkins is remotely close to the top 16 in his quarter so this looks a good chance for Allen to have another deep run. kevshat
Re: Paul Hunter Classic - 22-24 Aug Friday early TV previews: 4pts M.Holt to beat X.Guodong Evs Ladbrokes This should be a really good match but Holt is just a little overpriced to me at even money. I think he is best suited to this format at the minute and he has enough nous about him now to keep Xiao in the long grass and take advantage of the chances which come from that. These two have met once over this distance in the past and Holt won it 4-2 and I’ll side with him to win this one too. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/holt-vs-guodong-betting-michael-holt-can-edge-out-guodong-in-germany 4pts M.Allen (-2.5 frames) to beat L.Walker 3/4 Betfair You would have to expect a man of Mark Allen’s class to come through this match relatively unscathed. It might have been a bit different if he was struggling for form coming into the weekend but he isn’t. Walker knows his way around a snooker table but was never the most prolific of scorers and he’ll need to score well to keep Allen off the table. I’d be surprised if Allen loses more than a frame here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/allen-vs-walker-betting-mark-allen-should-ease-through-first-round-match 3pts N.Saengkham (+2.5 frames) to beat R.O'Sullivan 6/5 Coral I would be surprised if O’Sullivan doesn’t ultimately come through this match but there is nothing to suggest that he will definitely win it with plenty in hand. Saengkham beat Maguire a couple of weeks ago so clearly he doesn’t have much fear against the bigger players and with plenty of juice in his cue arm he isn’t likely to be as rusty as O’Sullivan will be. I think Saengkham can make it to two frames if not a couple more. voffka2611
Re: Paul Hunter Classic - 22-24 Aug Jimmy White (-1.5 frames) to beat Ahmed Saif. 1,66 Betfair I just don't see how Ahmed Saif can possibly challenge White. Yes, Jimmy is not who he used to be but his current form is more than enough to whitewash a player who so far lost all of his professional matches and has a zero in the prize-money column. White should win easily.
kevshat
Re: Paul Hunter Classic - 22-24 Aug Good shout Woffka :ok Saturday previews: 4pts N.Robertson (-2.5 frames) to beat E.Slessor 4/6 Coral Even though Robertson wasn’t on his A game in Riga it is hard to see the Australian being pushed too hard here. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing him to win this one 4-0 but he can sometimes have a lapse early on in a tournament so it might pay to play a little safer and take Robertson to cover a 2.5 frame head start. Nothing we’ve seen from Slessor so far this season suggests he’ll take more than a frame here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/n-robertson-vs-slessor-betting-neil-robertson-should-ease-into-the-second-round 4pts M.Williams (-1.5 frames) to beat R.Lawler 4/6 Coral Mark Williams is slowly coming into a bit of form and he only needs one big tournament to be a force again. Whether that tournament is this week remains to be seen but I think he’ll be too good for a struggling Rod Lawler here. Lawler will look to keep this tight but Williams can mix it with the best of them in the safety department and when he gets his chances to score he’ll take them to come through this with a bit in hand. voffka2611
Re: Paul Hunter Classic - 22-24 Aug Trump - Maguire (total centuries over 0.5) 1,83 Bet365 The best bet here may be Maguire to win. The odds are just ridiciluos because it's anybody's game with a best of 7. It may look like Judd is a slight favourite (judging by his results in this season) but certainly not the way bookies suggest it. If you look at h2h stats the actual favourite is Stephen. Anyhow I guess it will be a close match with a minimum of 6 frames played between two great break-builders and I fancy to see at least one century. Happy betting!
