BBOTD - Wed 30 April 2014

Recommended Posts

In here:ok Dark Ocean - 3.20 Pontefract As identified in the write up in post 2, this horse ran a solid speed rating of 79 on his seasonal debut at Pontefract, suggesting he would be capable of following up even when the handicapper penalised him. He has only gone up to a rating of 72, and given the way he travelled and quickened last time out, I feel he is more than capable of going in again. Has had a decent amount of time to recover from that run, and I'm enthused to see Graham Lee on board again. The good ground is a slight worry given I think he has a preference for further than the mile, but as long as it doesn't get too firm, I fancy him to go in again. 1 pt win @ 7/2 Bet 365

Re: BBOTD - Wed 29 April 2014 Punchestown 3.40 - Mrs Mac Veale 33/1 EW Sky Bet BOG Sea Light is a clear and well deserved favourite in my eyes and whilst I wouldnt say he is value at the current odds, I certainly wouldnt be wanting to lay him at that price either. Given there are so many runners anything can happen, and there is some evidence to suggest that the selection might have been brought along with this race in mind for a while now and she could potentially out run her odds. She won 3 times in October and November, all with a bit in hand before biting off more than she could chew in a Grade 2 after. She then had a break and ran well enough on her return, shaping as if she would come on for the run. I presume the short term target that time was probably the race she next contested only 12 days later on ground far softer than ideal (soft-heavy - best on yielding to soft at worst). I might just be finding excuses for something that isnt really there but based on that earlier season form, which is solid without being groundbreaking, and having her ideal conditions in what can only be described as a largely moderate affair for a card of this calibre, she seems to be a very large price for a very open race tomorrow and I can see her being involved at the finish if all is well.
