Aykay1
Hi all, a quick question on some information on the racing post website. If I look at Kingman's profile on the racing post website, you can see that his sire is a horse called Invincible Spirit. Next to his name, there is a figure in brackets (7.5f), which looks like a distance measure? What is this figure and what is the significance of it? Thanks in advance, AK :ok
Elchubb
Re: Sire information on Racingpost I believe it's the average distance that his progeny have won at!
Trotter
Re: Sire information on Racingpost Yes, that's what it is........average winning distance of his progeny aged 3 and over His damsire, Zaminder, is 8.8 furlongs I use these figures for a very rough stamina rating by adding the sire and damsire together and dividing by two........... jayalexander
Re: Sire information on Racingpost Trotter, have you ever used the dam's figures rather than the dam sire? If so, did it differ much? Trotter
Re: Sire information on Racingpost Aidy.......the problem with that is 'sample size' Most dams will only have single figure number of offspring in their lifetime (they can only have one a year !) and even fewer who will make it to the track........so the average can be well skewed by one horse A damsire will probably have 30 or 40 offspring every year same as the sire...........over a stud career they can have hundreds of runners, making 'averages' more meaningful

Toast
Re: Sire information on Racingpost The main thing to remember is that breeding is not an exact science. My own way of thinking is the offspring gets its ground preference from the sire, and stamina from the dam, though,
