PokerWolf1
Hi guys. I used to play a lot of live poker but hardly any the last couple of years. We had a situation come up in a pub game last night that had some differences of opinion. I have seen this happen a few times before but wanted to know what the general consensus would be if it happened in a casino. The situation was as follows. Blinds 50 / 100 2 limps, raise from mid to 275. Both blinds and both limpers call. Flop 9 9 5 with two hearts. Checks round to the original raiser who puts out 200. Small blind calls and big blind is thinking but dealer isn't paying attention and places the turn down. It's the 8 of hearts which could be a significant card. The majority of people agreed that action should go back to the flop and the turn card should be put back into the deck and the deck reshuffled so as to give the 8h an equal chance of coming out again. Is this the right ruling?
teaulc
Re: Question on a ruling the action would go back to the flop but,no,not as i understand it, the 8H would become a burn card and the next card on the deck is dealt. I have never seen a deck re-shuffled.
PokerWolf1
Re: Question on a ruling Thanks Teaulc. I have seen a deck reshuffled in a couple of games. Mainly self dealt when it could be seen as an angle by the dealer to see if the next card helps. Burning it was seen as a disadvantage to those who have acted innocently but may have needed that card.
bignedkelly
Re: Question on a ruling i would say that as long as the player was not deliberatly consealing his hand then this should happen the dealer should burn another card deal the river card face down (because this is the card that should have been dealt) then the dealer should put the 8H back into the pack and reshuffle and cut then action returns to the flop if needed the turn card is dealt if needed the river card is turned over

Danshot
Re: Question on a ruling I agree , seems a much fairer way to deal with it as shuffling gives all remaining cards a equal chance , even if the 8h was a irrelevant card which its not , burning it still adjusts the percentages for those that may want a blank to hit turn and river. These sorts of questions are the reason why Marcel Luske is trying to get a set of TD rulings that are universal , not sure how far they have gpt with this yet though
