Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd Source : http://www.football-league.co.uk/league1/news/20140221/sky-bet-league-1-weekend-preview_2293324_3679742 Bradford City v Milton Keynes Dons Bradford City picked up their first Sky Bet League 1 victory since 23rd November in midweek, and they now face Milton Keynes Dons. The Bantams scored a 92nd-minute winner in a 1-0 triumph over Port Vale, which pushed them into the top half of the table. The Dons are in ninth and just six points outside the Play-Offs after two wins and a draw of late. This match at Valley Parade pits the 12th-best home form in the division against the 12th-best on the road. These two teams have never drawn, with their eight previous meetings seeing four wins for each team. Brentford v Wolverhampton Wanderers The stand-out clash at the top of Sky Bet League 1 is at Griffin Park, where leaders Brentford, on 66 points, host third-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, on 64 points. The Bees have recorded 51 points from a possible 57, with 16 wins and three draws. They remain unbeaten under Mark Warburton and have won their past 10 home league matches. Wolves are outside of the automatic promotion places on goal difference but have two games in hand over Leyton Orient and could end the day top with a sixth successive win. Saturday's visitors have the tightest defence in the division having conceded just 20 goals in 30 matches, while in the same number of games Brentford have been breached on 28 occasions, the second fewest. Carlisle United v Rotherham United Carlisle United and Rotherham United meet for the 67th time, at Brunton Park this weekend. The Cumbrians have picked up six points in their past two games, with a win 1-0 over Bradford coming before a first away league success since October, at Coventry City on Tuesday. Those results have lifted Graham Kavanagh's men to 14th, on 36 points. Rotherham are unbeaten in six matches after a run of five wins and one draw. The Millers are fifth and seven points clear of the Play-Off chasing pack. Colchester United v Preston North End Colchester United and Preston North End both drew last time out and the pair come together at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The U's, who are 15th, drew 0-0 at Swindon Town on Valentine's Day to record an eighth point in five games. Fourth-placed Preston were also involved in a goalless stalemate, with MK Dons, and that was their fourth draw in an unbeaten run of six games. Although the Lancashire club triumphed 7-0 in an FA Cup tie between the two in 2010, they haven't won in this fixture in the league in eight clashes, since a 1-0 success in 2006. Despite that, both teams have 11 victories in the head-to-head, with eight draws. Leyton Orient v Swindon Town Leyton Orient reclaimed a place in the automatic promotion places on Tuesday night, and they now face eighth-placed Swindon Town, who have won only three of 16 away league games. The O's are second, courtesy of goal difference, and two points behind leaders Brentford following a 2-0 success over Stevenage. Before that, Russell Slade's men had started a February freefall, with three defeats and a draw in the month. Swindon were also in midweek action but suffered penalty shootout heartbreak as they were beaten by Peterborough United in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area Final. In League 1, their past 10 games have yielded 12 points, but they are still only four off the top-six. Notts County v Shrewsbury Town A crucial match towards the bottom of Sky Bet League 1 is at Meadow Lane, where 22nd-placed Notts County host Shrewsbury Town, who are 23rd. The Magpies are on 30 points and could end the day as high as 18th with victory, something they have experienced only once in five outings. Shrewsbury, on 28 points, are the division's out-of-form side. Since New Year's Day they are winless in seven, picking up two draws in that time. Mike Jackson, who was named as the Shrews' permanent boss on Friday, is yet to taste victory. This will be the club's 44th meeting - the other 43 have resulted in 14 wins apiece, along with 15 draws. Oldham Athletic v Gillingham Gillingham are continuing their spell in the top half of League 1 and they make the trip to Oldham Athletic. The Gills have been in the top 12 for the whole of February, for the first time this season, and have alternated wins and defeats for their past eight matches. Oldham are four points behind, on 34, in 16th position, and lost last weekend at MK Dons. The Latics won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in November and haven't been defeated at home by Gillingham since February 2000 - winning the four clashes since. Port Vale v Crewe Alexandra Port Vale host local rivals Crewe Alexandra in the 71st A500 derby on Saturday. Vale have won 33 of those previous meetings, including a 2-1 success earlier this season, with just 16 victories for Crewe. Micky Adams' men have also enjoyed more success in League 1 during 2013/14, and they sit 10th on 43 points, six outside the Play-Offs. Crewe are 21st, in the relegation zone due to an inferior goal difference. On the road they have secured a mere nine points from 45 available, and have the leakiest defence in the entire Sky Bet Football League, with 60 goals conceded from 31 fixtures. Sheffield United v Bristol City Sheffield United and Bristol City are deadlocked on 32 points, one point clear of the relegation zone, and are separated by just four goals ahead of their clash at Bramall Lane. City are the higher of the two clubs, in 17th, but the 18th-placed Blades have three games in hand and have historically enjoyed more success in this fixture with 26 wins compared to the Robins' 12. Nigel Clough's hosts won 1-0 at Ashton Gate in November, their only away league victory before a 1-0 win at Gillingham on Wednesday. Saturday's visitors have picked up five points from their past three outings. Stevenage v Peterborough United Peterborough United make the short trip down the A1 to face League 1's bottom club Stevenage. The Posh enjoyed Johnstone's Paint Trophy success on Monday night, qualifying for the Wembley Final after a penalty shootout success at Swindon. Their league form has picked up recently, too, with three wins and a draw in their past five, and that has been enough to see them reclaim the final Play-Off place. Stevenage have lost their past two, at Rotherham and Leyton Orient, but beat Peterborough in their first ever league clash, 1-0 at London Road. This will be their third ever meeting, Posh winning in the League Cup in 2011. Tranmere Rovers v Coventry City Tranmere Rovers have the division's worst home form and welcome Coventry City to Prenton Park on Saturday. Rovers have won three, drawn five and lost seven of their 15 league clashes in Birkenhead. They are 19th, one point clear of the bottom four. Coventry have lost their past two and, as a result, have slipped into the bottom half for the first time since a 5-1 hammering by Tranmere in November. Walsall v Crawley Town Crawley Town haven't played for four weeks ahead of their trip to seventh-placed Walsall this weekend. Due to those lack of fixtures, the Red Devils have slipped to 20th and are clear of the drop zone on goal difference only. However, they have as many as seven games in hand on some teams. John Gregory's men have won twice, suffered defeat twice and registered eight draws in their past 10. Walsall drew 0-0 at Peterborough last time out and remain two points behind the sixth-placed Posh. Before that they lost 3-0 to MK Dons, the only defeat for Dean Smith's team in nine outings.

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd From Teamtalk: Swindon will be without six players when they make the trip to Leyton Orient. Former Newcastle striker Nile Ranger has suffered a grade three hamstring tear which will sideline him for between eight and 12 weeks, meaning Michael Smith looks likely to start having been cup-tied for the Robins' penalty shoot-out defeat to Peterborough in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Influential midfielder Alex Pritchard has suffered a grade one medial ligament strain and is ruled out along with Louis Thompson (ankle). The Robins will also assess Dany N'Guessan who has a groin strain and is touch and go. Jamie Reckord returns to contention having also been ineligible against Posh which gives manager Mark Cooper another option as his side look to bounce back from Monday night's disappointment. Full-backs Nathan Thompson and Jay McEveley serve the final matches of their bans while defender Grant Hall remains a long-term absentee. Some important players in there, especially Pritchard. Orient been very strong at home and Swindon poor away anyway. Got to fancy a home win here...

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd Notts Co v Shrewsbury Pick Over 2.25 @ 1.92 Sbobet Big relegation battle here and both sides fragile defences will be tested here.Notts seem to be missing their first choice cdef pair of Leacock and Liddle but they are decent at home and do have goals in them.Shrewsbury appointed Jackson til the end of the season and since he took over from Turner performances,if not results have improved. I can see both sides scoring here and feel this hcap line offers some value.

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd Leyton Orient - Swindon League 1 England Saturday 22/2 16:00 Prediction: Leyton Orient Odds: 2,00 Stake: 5/10 Bookmaker: Coral We continue to play with "our" Leyton Orient who has pleased us at several occassions this season, they covered the -1,5 handicap last round at home to Stevenage. Plenty of attacking options, good at home. Swindon as we mentioned earlier an extreme homeside, a completely different side away, only winning 3 out of 16 away. Also here with some injury concerns, missing up to 6 players, some of them important. We predict another win for LO here. Swindon by all means not a bad side, but with several players missing we think they are up for a tough afternoon to a solid LO side!

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd Sheffield Utd - Bristol City League 1 England Saturday 22/2 16:00 Prediction: Sheffield Utd Odds: 2,05 Stake: 4/10 Bookmaker: Ladbrokes Sheffield Utd placed 18th in the table, just below Bristol City at 17th place. But Sheffield Utd has 3 games in hand. Sheffield showing decent form, both in the league and their excellent FA cup run. At home they are difficult team to defeat. Bristol City has done some decent results lately and are probably better then their league position, which also Sheffield Utd is. However we think Sheffield should have a good chance here, Bristol City not the best on the road and has by all means looked quite exhausted lately, Sheffield United away a tough nut to crack and we predict Clough men to get all the 3 points here.

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday February 22nd Brentford - Wolves League 1 England Saturday 22/2 16:00 Prediction: Both teams to score Odds: 2,00 Stake: 4/10 Bookmaker: Coral Game of the weekend in the lower divisions, a real top class between leaders Brentford and 3rd placed Wolves. Brentford showing some incredible form and havent lost since mid October. Wolves also showing some fantastic form winning their 6 last matches, and could with a win here go top of the table. We actually think Wolves will win this one, however we prefer to back BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE option. Even tough it´s a top class we predict a fairly open game, with plenty of chances. Both teams has tremendous offensive capacity, Brentford has shown some defensive weaknesses lately and far worse teams than Wolves has scored on Brentford. Both teams to score out prediction in this highly interesting match!
