teaulc
Online gambling company Unibet announced yesterday that it will be leaving the Microgaming Poker Network in a bid to launch its own standalone network by the New Year, as they feel being part of the larger poker network is no longer a sustainable option for their brand. The decision to move may have been influenced by a recent earnings report that highlighted gross revenue falling by 26% in comparison to last year - but more likely an overall industry trend that’s seen the smaller sites move their focus toward catering to the needs of recreational players. “In a way, our goal is to bring the fun back to poker by creating software with a clear focus on the casual playerâ€, said Daniel Eskola, Head of Gaming at Unibet. This project is a combination of everything we believe is important in completing a fun poker experience.†Swedish listed Unibet are set to invest €1.25m in the project in a partnership with Estonian based software developers Relax Gaming, who also helped Unibet in the past with their fast-fold format. However, a strong relationship with Microgaming should persist, as Unibet are set to continue providing the network’s Quickfire games for its online casino. Danshot
Re: Unibet to leave Microgaming Will be interesting to see a site attempt it's own standalone network. That's for for sure , if players are waiting around to play the games as they fill up it can be annoying and maybe players will leave , or maybe this leads them to donk of more money in the online casino's

glceud
Re: Unibet to leave Microgaming I used to play on Action Poker after Black Friday and at the time of day I was playing the player pool was tiny, but we always got a game going and it was pretty well who ever got there first decided what to play. Also used to play at paradise poker in the early days of online poker and again there was a pool of about 20 of us playing $10 fixed limit STTs. We all chatted about anything and it was a very social thing, even more so than pl games. Good luck to Unibet. Pokerstars and the likes are still there for anyone that want's to become a professional multi-tabling no lifer.

It will all depend on the quality of the software at the end of the day ofc

reb33
Re: Unibet to leave Microgaming I will certainly give it a go when it happens as they are a quality brand. As DaMatrix says it will depend on the quality of the software and most of us will remember what happened at Betfair poker when they tried and failed to do the same thing.
