Re: England > Weekend > Skrill North & South Dec 7-8 Bishop’s Stortford away at Staines Town (19/10 10Bet) It has been a stop-start month for Bishop's Stortford, with cup appearances and blank weekends interrupting their superb league form, and they probably won’t be as sharp as they were pre-Northampton, but there are signs that this price might be value. They are still getting used to life without Vassel, but Liam Enver-Marum is a half-decent replacement and they didn’t look too rusty against Cheshunt in the county cup midweek (at the weekend, too, they saw off Stockport 5-2 in a friendly, though that involved a lot of subs). Staines’ 7-0-1 record is superb but as I said in the Trophy thread at the weekend, it's less superb when you start digging – they’ve been fighting hard but have rarely been dominant. I can see an edge in this price about the visitors in what is a much more equal contest. Histon at home to Stalybridge Celtic (6/5 BetInternet) Histon have been playing a touch better than their record suggests, although they haven’t been taking their chances, which is why they’ve signed forward Andrew Phillips – a rare gem in a poor Bedford side. It’s looking like they’ll have a few chances against Stalybridge, whose full-time project is gradually being pared to the bone. Defensively they are in something of a mess – they’ve already lost Mark Lees to Barrow, and now Joel Bembo-Lita has gone out on loan to Curzon Ashton (though this second move suggests they have someone to fill the space), leaving a gap in the middle alongside James Tunnicliffe. They’ve only managed a single point from the last possible 18 away and I’d make Histon slightly heavier favourites for this one.

That explains why my antepost play on Whitehawk is looking in a bit of trouble... Actually, it's not clear what timescale this relates to, or whether it is anything to do with the 'Essexgate' rumours from last season. Both played in the 6-2 win at Dorchester.

Re: England > Weekend > Skrill North & South Dec 7-8 Histon v Stalybridge The new manager honeymoon period seems tobe over at Stalybridge as they are struggling for form at the moment andconceded five to Lincoln (not exactly prolific scorers) in the FA Trophy lastSaturday. Their away form has been bad all season and they have only picked upone point in their last six away games. Granted Histon have only won once intheir last six games, but they are pretty solid at home and have been a littleunlucky not to have picked up more points. Coral go 6/5 on a home win and thatis just big enough for me. Bromley v Farnborough I opposed Farnborough to great effect lastweekend with Chelmsford beating them 3-1 at a big price. Obviously top of thetable Bromley are a lot shorter to beat them but they have a 100% record athome, scoring 28 and conceding just five. It really should be an easy win forthe home side. Not only are Farnborough in a bit of disarray they have onlymanaged one away win all season. I don’t often tip up singles on odds on shots,but Coral’s 8/13 should be a fair bit shorter and I think they are worth amaximum bet at those odds. Paddy Power go 6/4 on the -1 handicap and that isalso worth taking. Treble As well as Bromley there look to be anothercouple of home bankers this weekend. First of all Barnet host Dartford and theyreally should be beating them. In the Skrill South Sutton host a Maidenheadside who haven’t won in the league since September 7^th. The treblepays just under 3/1 with Coral.
