It's not clear what went wrong - that's what the police are investigating - but it has to do with the transfer of assets (an occasional problem with non-league clubs). The winding up of the club relates to a former club official who took the club to court over unpaid rent for some buildings at the ground, which he leased back to the club. Those assets are held in this individual's family pension fund. As I pointed out a couple of weeks back on a similar thread, that's an odd arrangement - firstly, for the current directors to agree to a deal which left them dependent on the goodwill of a potentially disgruntled former official, and secondly because it's odd for someone to punt a pension fund on the ability of a non-league club to pay rent. As always at these times it's the fans you feel sorry for - well done to those who travelled for the last rites at Chesham on Saturday, singing - to the tune of 'Hinckley till I die' - 'Hinckley till Monday'.

Re: Northern & Southern Premier - Ryman Premier - October 7th & 8th To reprise a posting in the earlier thread I am backing St Albans City tonight, although at a best of 23/20 with Marathon it has come in far enough. St Albans look as if they have clicked with the addition of some midfield muscle, whereas Bedford Town are struggling - a case can be made for them not having deserved either home win so far this season. Betway are offering FA Trophy replay prices. Bromsgrove Green has already pointed out the excellent price about Witham Town at 1.95 and that has been backed into 1.65 since he posted. I've also had a sniff at Aylesbury, 4.5 to beat VCD (now into 3.75). There's still a little value in the price, I think.

They also possess a threat down the flanks, something I don't think Canvey will be able to handle, especially their young left back Baucutt. 1.83 Maidstone @ VCBet

Re: Northern & Southern Premier - Ryman Premier - October 7th & 8th St Albans failed last night, and though it was a late equaliser for Bedford the result sounds a fair one as the Saints were sitting back for much of the second half. Better news of Aylesbury, who notched a last-kick winner against VCD to land at 4.5. I was also on Witham, too, so a decent night overall (though Betway's limits prevented it being a really good one). Great calls by BG once again, who is on a real hot-streak - Witham romped home at 1.95 and Poole landed easily. Good call also by FatJack on Maidstone - a pretty profitable thread all round.
