Re: Fifa Under 17 World Cup UAE 2013 I saw some of Brazil v Slovakia, ended Brazil 6 Slovakia 1. Brazil were about 5 classes above the Slovaks, with some superb attacking play. You can understand why they are favourites after seeing that. (Uruguay managed a scoreline that was almost as impressive, winning 7-0 over New Zealand.) Brazil did look suspect in defence when under pressure though - their goalkeeper wasn't convincing dealing with corners, and they did concede a goal in the second half.

This means only eight teams get knocked out - the bottom team in each group and the two worst 3rd places. So a team might easily get, say 2 or 3 points, finish third and still qualify. Italy have a mean defence, and as far as I can tell New Zealand hardly threatened Uruguay in the first game. I'm not sure if any bookies are offering an Italy clean sheet of BTS NO, but it's probably worth jumping in if they do (at sensible odds of say 1.5 or better).

Result: Uzbekistan 0 Morocco 0 I was most of the second half. According to the FIFA commentator, Morocco were the better side in the first half, but I thought the second half was desparately dull. Both sides looked delighted to take a draw from the game, as they cancelled each other out. On this showing, it would be a surprise if either of these countries progress much further.

If it was a boxing match, the referee would have stepped in and told the opponents to start engaging. Very disappointed with Morocco. I think they could have won with a bit more courage.
