Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; kNorthern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Betway also have full prices out - and there are some intriguing difference in there, including Eastbourne Borough set at 2.35 (bet365 are 8/11). They host Tonbridge Angels, who were limp yesterday but had several absentees. Tonbridge's conquerors, Boreham Wood, host Bishop's Stortford - 4/5 Bet365, 6/5 Betway.

Betway also have full prices out - and there are some intriguing difference in there' date=' including Eastbourne Borough set at 2.35 (bet365 are 8/11). They host Tonbridge Angels, who were limp yesterday but had several absentees. Tonbridge's conquerors, Boreham Wood, host Bishop's Stortford - 4/5 Bet365, 6/5 Betway.[/quote'] I went to Tonbridge v Boreham Wood yesterday, and Wood were excellent. The game finished 0-2 but could easily have been 5 or 6! Tonbridge played 5-3-2 but were caught time and again by Wood's neat & intelligent counter attacks with Tonbidge's wing backs caught up the pitch exposing a rather pedestrian looking back three. Betway now have Eastbourne odds-on to beat Tonbridge, but the 6/5 about Boreham Wood to beat Stortford is still available, that's where my money has gone. Thanks for the heads-up Ships!

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 i will be at the hednesford v leamington game on Tuesday evening, not one to bet on imo at this stage of the season as both sides started life in the skrill north with cracking wins on Saturday the heads up from Saturdays win at Stalybridge was that staly were a very young side with not a lot of physicality and hednesford were able to bully them and basically overpower them although staly had some good technical footballers. dunno whether colwyn bay are a big, physical side but they might be worth consideration at a good price also looking at Altrincham home to barrow, afc fylde at fcum and Bedford to beat Redditch who are as poor as last season according to somebody i know who saw them lose to arlesley yesterday, any info on Bedford ships as 5-4 seems a big price unless they are a poor outfit as well?

i will be at the hednesford v leamington game on Tuesday evening' date='not one to bet on imo at this stage of the season as both sides started life in the skrill north with cracking wins on Saturday the heads up from Saturdays win at Stalybridge was that staly were a very young side with not a lot of physicality and hednesford were able to bully them and basically overpower them although staly had some good technical footballers. dunno whether colwyn bay are a big, physical side but they might be worth consideration at a good price also looking at Altrincham home to barrow, afc fylde at fcum and Bedford to beat Redditch who are as poor as last season according to somebody i know who saw them lose to arlesley yesterday, any info on Bedford ships as 5-4 seems a big price unless they are a poor outfit as well?[/quote'] It's quite hard to know how Bedford's season will go. Lee Bearman has had to assemble a completely new squad on a budget, so there is the a mix of youngsters and lower-level talent. Jordan Patrick and Curtis Shaw are two of the more experienced players at this level and Dominic Lawless should do well up front (plenty of goals at Steps 4 and 5). Zac Stephens played in central defence at the weekend, though defensively they look like they have some work to do. There's better than 5/4 available now, and while that's higher than I can make the price about Bedford it's still a little early for me to take. Colwyn Bay did okay until the last half-hour at Histon, when it all went a little pear-shaped. They are reasonably strong, and though it doesn't auger well that Histon are similar in size, shape and approach to Staly, on the plus side Bay have some fresh bodies to come in this week - including maybe Pascal Chimbonda.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Ilkeston at home to Stamford (11/10 Marathon) The initial 7/5 has gone but there's still a touch of value in the price. Ilkeston drew at the weekend in a wind-ruined game but showed enough signs that they'll be competitive this season. Stamford looked defensively shaky in pre-season and the four conceded to Frickley suggests there are still worries in that area, especially with a young keeper who was woefully exposed at times. Ryan Robbins and Jordan Smith offer plenty of goal threat, however, and the price shouldn't be taken any lower. Boreham Wood at home to Bishop's Stortford (Evs BetVics) Better prices have been snapped up, but there's just value at this mark. Wood showed plenty of class and perhaps more defensive organisation than last season on Saturday and they can continue the good work against a Stortford side who didn't really get going against Bath, though to be fair they look a decent side in the making and they will carry a threat with Kyle Vassell up top once they get the blend right. Altrincham at home to Barrow (13/10 Bet Vics) Worth catching the drift in this price. Alty haven't quite got rid of all their defensive frailties, but they were excellent in attack against Worcester City, and there's value in the price against a Barrow side that is still bedding in and was second best at home to Brackley on Saturday. Grantham Town at home to Worksop Town (3/1 Marathon) Grantham were a let down for me on Saturday but they competed well at Ashton and this price is an over-reaction to that result, and to Worksop's win over FCUM - superb, but with a touch of good fortune about it. I'd make Grantham slight favourites for this one. Chorley at home to Ashton United (11/10 BetVics, Marathon) There's just enough here to get excited about. Ashton were pretty spirited in defeating Grantham on Saturday but rather got away with it in the second half. Chorley were superb on Saturday at Barwell and they have a squad with plenty of options these days. They shouldn't be odds against for this one.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Altrincham v Barrow The home side landed the Nap selection on Saturday at Worcester although they did give us a scare going a goal down before winning 3-1. The quality they have up front proved the difference in the end and that might well be the case against a Barrow side who struggled in their first game back in the Skrill North on Saturday. Granted it was only a 1-0 defeat to a Brackley side fancied for a promotion push, but it could have been more and Altrincham are of course also fancied to do well this season. The 13/10 with BetVictor looks on the big side to me about a home win. Gainsborough v Guiseley Two sides who would have been disappointed to have lost on Saturday, but I think the home side look a big price at 2/1 with BetVictor to get a first win on the board. Guiseley have done well in recent seasons, but they have lost key players ahead of this one and I get the feeling they will struggle to get in the play-offs this time around. A 3-0 home defeat to Solihull was not a great start to the season and it seems to me the bookies have priced up this game based on what Guiseley did last season and not on Saturday. Gainsborough lost 2-1 to Vauxhall Motors and put in a fair effort. They are usually stronger at home and although no home banker I just can’t understand why they are such a big price, I am not even sure Guiseley should be favourites. Solihull Moors v Oxford City I was obviously pleased to see Solihull win on Saturday given I tipped them up at big odds for the title in my ante-post column. By all accounts they were superb in that 3-0 victory and I think they are worth backing to follow up that win against Oxford. The away side were tipped up in the Racing Post as title winners, much to the bemusement of everyone else including the City manager. There seems no obvious reason to think they will find the improvement to get themselves even in the play-off picture let alone win the league. They lost on Saturday to another of my ante-post tips Harrogate and if Solihull are in the same form as Saturday they are nicely priced at 5/4 with Boylesports to win this. Workington v Stockport Not often you get a team who lost 4-1 in their last match who are then a best price of 11/10 to win their next match especially when playing away from home, but that is exactly what we have here as Stockport got off to a disastrous start to their life in the Skrill North when losing to Boston. It would be hard not to think there will be some improvement, but travelling to Workington is always tough especially on a Tuesday night and it will be a tough game for them. Workington played well on Saturday at title favourites AFC Telford and were probably unlucky not to get something from the game. Again they are hardly home bankers but BetVictor and Boylesports have the home win at 9/4 and I am more than happy to take a chance on a home victory at that price as Stockport could well be in for a tough night. Basingstoke v Gosport and Eastbourne v Tonbridge Angels Going with a home double in the Skrill South with pays just under 2.4/1 with BetVictor. Basingstoke got a late winner against Concord on Saturday and I think they can beat another promoted side in Gosport on Tuesday night. Gosport only lost 1-0 to Dover, but they struggled and I think it might take them a bit of time to find their feet at this level. Eastbourne made a winning start on Saturday albeit with just a penalty against Weston-Super-Mare. Tonbridge really struggled on Saturday against Boreham Wood and they could be in for a long season. I expect Eastbourne to be too strong for them and think it is worth doubling the two odds on shots up.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 I was at the Staly game, they were a makeshift side and there has been a lot of coming and going since last season. In midfield 3 of the best players were absent (Pepper, Warburton and Wilkinson). The incoming loan keeper Urwin was a little shaky but Staly knocked the ball about brilliantly without creating too much. Possession must have been 65-35 for Staly and they hit the bar 4 times. Hednesford, keen , tough, gigantic. Man for man they were bigger than every single Staly player. They chased every ball and edged the game by their sheer endeavour. The goals were a delflection, two scrambles and a penalty. Would not be surprised if both won tomorrow.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 I am wondering that nobody's noticed two interesting games: 1. Maidenhead United - Hayes & Yeading Magpies showed fantastic style of playing in the first game against Whitehawk. Richard Paquette is on fire now in attack. Hayes last season was awful away from home and I strongly doubt that they can improve their game in away matches. Don't forget that they lost first game at home to Bromley (0-2). I fancy Maidenhead to win this clash. Bet365 proposes 2.2 for this. 2. Bromley - Whitehawk Hosts were good in away game against Hayes and I think that they can simply demolish such team as Whitehawk. Bet365 gives 2.4 for home win. I would try.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 They both look reasonable shouts, French, and I wouldn't put you off, though they are not ones for me. Hayes have undergone plenty of changes over the summer and last season's form is irrelevant, but it could be a sound time to oppose them as they are some way off the complete package. Maidenhead had a spectacular result on Saturday and have a reasonably stable starting XI, so they do have an advantage in that respect but they were missing some bodies through injury at Whitehawk and the hosts missed enough chances to have won the game. 2.2 about Maidenhead is a touch higher than I make it but not enough to appeal. Bromley/Whitehawk is a really interesting one, and there is some thought that this the best Bromley squad for a long time. Having said that, Whitehawk can't easily be dismissed - man for man they look more than a match for the home side, but I can't see much of an edge in the prices.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Shipsupstreets, thanks for your reply! I think that magpies has a good team and some missing bodies can't be an obstacle in a game against totally rebuild H&Y. Don't forget the manager factor. Hyppolite works his seven's year with Maidenhead and I believe that he knows perfectly the weak points of his own team. With all respect to Whitehawks, their roster isn't so well compering to Bromley's one.

Sorry disagree with that last comment. Me and ships have both backed Whitehawk for the title and they have a strong squad with plenty of money. Suspect they will be much better tonight. Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

It's never easy to balance the relative merits of a squad this early in the season but Whitehawk are ahead of Bromley in terms of experience (which of course means very little if they lose 3-0 at home to Maidenhead!). For the record, they boast Jake Robinson and Michael Boateng amongst their summer signings. Robinson has plenty of league experience and Boateng - ex-Bromley, incidentally - turned out a few times for Newport last season. Richard Rose and Jacob Erskine both did solid jobs in the Conference for Dartford. They've also a loanee in from Blackburn Rovers who is an U19 for the Portuguese national side.

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Thanks guys for your opinions. Sounds Whitehawk has some "big" conferencial names on a paper but first game wasn't impressive at all. Ok, let's wait for the game and good luck :hope

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 I found it finally in one's guy twitter. Actually, they missed only one man (Ujah), no more. He was replaced by Benzahdi who organised the penalty. Fortunately, magician Paquette scored the second goal :notworthy Bromley, by the way, demolished Whitehawk. ;)

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 Handsome night overall - Chorley failed (somewhat surprisingly given the score with 20 to go) but I'll take that on the chin given that Alty came home at 13/10 and Grantham landed at 3/1. Three out of five on the session but the prices were chunky enough to get the bank turning over nicely. Good call by addpea on Alty and superb work by French on Maidenhead and Bromley - one regret this session is engaging in an argument about the merits of Whitehawk!

Re: England > Midweek > Skrill N & S; Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Aug 19-21 cracking game at keys park tonight where hednesford came back from two goals down at half time to win 3-2 with three goals in the last twenty odd minutes, the winner right at the death. it was the proverbial game of two halves where leamington looked a very good counter attacking side first half and deservedly led at half time, liam daly was immense at the back, a magnet to the ball and the number 7 was absolute quality going forward wide right(dunno who he was???) lee chilten an Stefan moore with the goals. second half rob smith threw on the old warrior dave McPherson and Nathan woolfe and they helped change the game along with Jamey osbourne who was the most influential player on the pitch, goals from woolfe, durrell and another sub rey turned the game on its head. hednesford might not be the most polished side in the league but their spirit, attitude and effort has seen them win a few games from the dead over the last few years. all in all a great game to watch and both teams looked like they could be pushing for the play offs on this evidence

the number 7 was absolute quality going forward wide right
Good stuff, BG. I think that'll be Matt Dodd, who came in last season and cemented his place at once. Decent and big-hearted player and I wouldn't be surprised if someone took a risk on him higher up. I think Leam will be slightly hamstrung by a lack of tactical flexibility - you could see it last season at times, but the sheer quality of the side meant their opponents usually didn't take advantage. This season, against cannier teams, they'll really need to learn to close games out or to shake things up if it's not going well. Against selected opponents, they'll be a good side to oppose in-running if they go one up.
