Re: Wuxi Classic 17-23 Jun Tournament preview: 1pt ew R.Walden to win Wuxi Classic 25/1 Paddy Power (1/2 1-2) Ricky Walden won this tournament last year and he probably couldn’t have wished for a better draw in this tournament. He has a dream run to the quarter finals where you would expect every tournament to become more difficult but even then he’s seeded to face Mark Williams or Stuart Bingham so that could have been worse. Walden clearly enjoys playing in China having won both his ranking event titles there and fresh from his run to the semi final of the World Championship he looks a strong runner this week. 1pt ew A.Carter to win Wuxi Classic 20/1 BetVictor (1/2 1-2) Ali Carter is another who plays well in China and he looks to have a good draw this week after Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out of the event. He doesn’t face anyone in the top 40 in the world before the quarter final which should get him into good nick. Carter won the German Masters last year having won the Shanghai Masters before that so we know he can perform overseas and he looks decent value in the bottom half of the draw. Re: Wuxi Classic 17-23 Jun Quarter two preview: 2pts B.Hawkins to win 2nd Quarter 5/1 Stan James Barry Hawkins is another who heads out to China in decent touch. We all saw his exploits in the World Championship and he has already made the semi finals of the Bulgarian Open this season where he led Neil Robertson 3-0 before losing 4-3. It was unfortunate that he lost but there were plenty of positives for him to take from that should the two meet in the quarter finals here. If they do I’ll be happy to be on Hawkins at 5/1 so he’s the pick from this quarter. Walden showed all his qualities in the World Championship, he showed he can score and he showed he can grind it out as well. Jimmy’s best days are well behind him and while I’m sure he’ll give it his all I think Walden will be too strong and should win comfortably if he can get the early lead. His scoring power should be way too good for the Chinese player and if it is then I don’t see Hang winning too many frames. Hang hasn’t looked too convincing this season yet and he is sure to be a bit nervous for what will be a big occasion for him. This should be a breeze for Trump and a small bet on a big Trump win is the play. White wasn’t playing all that well back in March/April but he appears to be playing much better now. Couple that with Milkins perhaps a little short of match practice and overall practice and this one has the makings of being very tight. He is playing good snooker and he is battle hardened this week. Milkins has come through the draw as well as could be expected but I always think you are better off with a bit of a challenge before you get to the latter stages. The fact Hamilton has had a challenge and the fact he is scoring so well makes me think he can come through this match at a decent price.
