3.50 Curragh Zand 11/4 Boylesports A three horse race on paper between Lines Of Battle, Trading Leather and Zand. The globe trotting Lines of Battle won in Dubai UAE Derby over 9 furlongs in March and then ran 7th in a Group 1 in the USA in May. He would have to have a chance but only won a Dundalk maiden in Ireland last year at Dundalk albeit running good races in defeat most notably when 6 lengths behind Dawn Approach at Royal Ascot. Trading Leather has the most solid form running 2nd at York behind Libertarian in the Date before finishing 3rd in the Irish 2000 Guineas behind Magician. His 2y0 form was solid too finishing runner up to Battle of Marengo in a maiden at Leopardstown before winning at Gowran and a Group 3 at Newmarket. Outclassed in the Racing Post Trophy behind Kingsbairns afterwards. However the one I like is Zand who had 2 runs at 2 finishing runner up in a Curragh maiden staying on too late before making no mistrake at Leopardstown beating the promising Ghaamer easily. He has the most scope for improvement. Tomorrow he is on trial for the Irish Derby and must win getting weight from all but Aiden O Brien's 2nd string if he is to merit running in the Irish Derby. Re: BBOTD Sunday 9th June 15.50 Curragh - Trading Leather - Win @ 2\1 Bet365 BOG Trading Leather is top on official ratings and has class form in the bag. 3rd last time out in the Irish 2000 guineas beaten by Magician who looks a real class act. Prior to that was 2nd to Libertarian in the Dante at York which followed up with an English Derby 2nd. Trading Leather's form is easily good enough to win this Listed event. Class of race, distance, ground and recent form are all strong pointers with no negatives. Trainer should have run this in English Derby but declined due to having an alternative who flopped big style! (No prizes for guessing that horse)
