2nd 2yo race 2.10 Lingfield, Sunday

It's quite an interesting race tomorrow as a few sires have runners off their first crops. Bushranger, Intense Focus, Winker Watson and Captain Gerrard were all good 2yo themselves who never quite made it as top class 3yo. Wonder if their progeny will be as precocious. Only one Colt in the line up, El Duque form the Brocklesbury winning trainer Bill Turner and his the 7lb claimer he used is int he saddle again. The other male in the field is a Dave Evans trained Majestic Missile gelding Smugglers Gold, MM 2yo have poor record on a/w though. J.Hughes has a Multiplex filly Diamond Lady but the girls don't have anywhere near the record of the boy Multi's on the a/w. Winker Watson was very good at two and won the Norfolk and July stakes in a 1.1.1 sequence but then never trouble the judge again so his daughter Hedy may be worth keeping an eye on. Dave Evans also saddles an Intense Focus filly in Intense Feeling and he had the runner up in the Brocklesbury for the same owner, his wife. Again Intense Focus was a good two yr old winning the Dewhurst. Maybe 6f+ will suit her in time. Bushranger finished ahead of Intense Focus when winning The Anglesey before winning the Prix Morny and the Middle Park. Looks to have plenty of zip in the pedigree. Marilyn Marquessa is another from the J.Hughes yard and her sire Captain Gerrard was speedy to winning the Cornwallis stakes before taking the Palace House as a 3yo. The final runner is the Ron Harris Elnadim filly M'selle. Elnadim fillys 0-9 on a/w at this trip.

Re: 2nd 2yo race 2.10 Lingfield, Sunday Interesting isn't it.............you see these sires and unless they were absolutely top class they're just beginning to fade from the memory.............then all of a sudden they're back again ! I was looking at the 2 year old maiden that kick starts the Irish turf season and there's another Bushranger running there and the first Dandy Man runner...............
