Re: Flat Racing - 29th December 3.40 Wolverhampton Dreadful card at Wolverhampton, nothing better than a class 5 on the card, but this race looks semi respectable. ROYAL SEA won over C&D two days ago by two lengths, justifying his market position having previously been a beaten fav. Now the penny seems to have dropped, could follow up under a penalty before reassessed. 13/8 Bet Victor 4.40 Wolverhampton VIMIERO is a Jonjo O'Neill flat runner. He has one of these every know and then that does ok on the AW (like Spectait). Showed some useful novice hurdle form that would suggest he's capable of impacting in handicaps in this sphere off 75, and his second to the Cornishcockney reads very well. Beaten three lengths that day but was conceding lots of weight to the three year old winner, who was raised 11lb and won returned to a handicap next time out. Has been raised another 8lb since, so was clearly better than the mark when opposing my selection. Big run forecast with Georgey Baker booked. 5/2 William Hill

Re: Flat Racing - 29th December 2.05 Wolverhampton Decent looking handicap given the grade. Hamoody has been plying his trade in claimers and sellers last 2 starts and has ran respectably in doing so but will need to be at his very best back in handicap. Another Citizen warrants plenty of respect having won last time out after a string of consistent efforts, up 6lb for that effort but potentially flattered by the ease of success given how the track was riding that day (awful kickback and paid to be very prominent). Apprentice takes 5lb back off which will help but drawn out in the car park could be a big problem and looks worth opposing today. Wheres Riley has been set some tough task in claimers recently and step up in trip possible excuse last time out, cheekpieces tried for the first time and Luke Morris looks a good booking but would still liked to have seen more in recent starts. Alive and Kicking has gone the wrong way but has dropped 3lb below his only handicap winning mark, joined Fahey for 5000GNS but yard fairly quiet this AW season despite a winner last night. Well drawn. Amadeus Wolf took a step back in the right direction when merely plugging on for 3rd behind Another Citizen last time out, did face enough kickback that day and possible he could do better today but does now need to back that effort up and not so well drawn today. Steelcut was the other to run ok behind Another Citizen but that was a stand out effort on recent form and again could have easily been flattered by the way the track was riding and remains one to tread carefully with. For me Greenhead High has a good chance of ending his consistent run with a win. He remains 2lb below his last winning mark and good apprentice takes over today claiming a very handy 5lb. The return to 5f should definitely suit. Should get an easy lead in this field from a good draw and should go very well. 2pt win Greenhead High 5/1 SJ 4.40 Wolverhampton Only 6 runners but atleast 5 of these come with some chance. Vimiero is a rare flat runner for Jonjo Oneill and the market usually tells the story with his runners and he isn’t that strong in the market at the moment. He looked in need of further when merely staying on in a maiden around here over shorter. A mark of 75 back in handicap could be a stumbling block given how close a 68 rated horse finished to him (who ran 3rd off that mark 10 days ago). Six Of Clubs is a good yardstick on the AW with 22 runs has won 6 times and 6 placed efforts and is 3 from 5 around here. He can be keen and needs a strong pace to chase and its not obvious he will get this today and may over do himself off a 5lb higher mark requiring a career best effort but cant be totally ruled out. Rosewood Lad is likely to need this after 8 months off the track despite being on his last winning mark. Call It On hasn’t been seen for 2 months but has been well backed this morning. Yet to win a handicap and strike rate poor 1 from 16. Yet to encounter the AW surface which is a concern but could just get a soft lead in this race but comes with plenty of risk attached. The Absent Mare often races in more competitive handicaps than this, she improved out of recognition last winter before struggling back on turf off higher mark, given a break over summer and looked to need the run first time up back on the flat (did have a run over hurdles). Showed much more last time out she stayed on in pleasing fashion cheekpieces added today and may just bring about the little bit more required to take this weak race. 2pt win The Absent Mare 9/2 bet365
