Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29

Shipup You think Whitby will stay up?
Think so, HS. Eastwood and Kendal look nailed on for the two slots, and if they find something extra Stocksbridge are still behind Whitby in the pecking order. There's a feeling that if they go down they'll switch to the Northern League but I don't think things will get that bad.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29 Weather looks potentially messy again - both the games at Weymouth and Frome look a touch vulnerable... Weymouth at home to St Neots Town (11/10 widespread) Weymouth were full value for their win at home to Bash on Boxing Day and they can follow that up against much trickier opponents. St Neots have done okay this season and as the 2nd highest scorers and 2nd highest conceders they are the entertainers of the section. But they'll find it tricky at in-form Weymouth: Stefan Moore has departed and Ben Mackay is suspended along with Jay Davies, so their attacking options are limited. St Albans City away at Frome Town (10/11 widespread) So you lose your chairman, your experienced manager is sacked, the budget is cut, and several high-profile players leave... and yet in less than a month St Albans have become potential contenders (and a pretty sparky antepost play at 25s). Under Graham Golds and James Gray they've won three and draw once, playing with the kind of spirit and freedom that others in the section will do well to be wary of. Frome have a decent side but have lost three on the bounce at home - the last thing they need is St Albans rolling into town. Stafford Rangers at home to Hednesford Town (13/8 widespread) Stafford were poor at home to Hednesford on Boxing Day but are a generous price to get back on track against a Witton side who don't offer quite the same physical barrier and are still missing a couple of key bodies suspended.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29

Corals have quoted frickley against Kendal at evens, thus far they stand alone in this, mistake or deliberate trap?.
Perhaps a wind-up given that it'll probably be off but it's a staggering price in the circumstances. Craig Dootson apart, it looks like a Kendal side that might just be competitive a step below but is currently out of they're depth here. Frickley have been chirpy enough at home, with a draw with Fylde which they bossed, a win over Hednesford and a close-run defeat against Ferriby. I haven't bothered to price the game up myself but if I did I wouldn't have Frickley much past the 1/2 mark. Frickley HT/FT is also available at 12/5.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29

Hello! What are your thoughts on Gosport and Canvey Island?
I'm a little surprised about the turnaround in Gosport's fortunes, and this is despite the fact that I was bullish about their chances pre-season: they started the season in pretty disorganised fashion, although they are attacking fluently at the moment and I am really pleased to see Justin Bennett doing well - he's on a real hot streak at the moment. Redditch have been pretty dire, although they are sometimes organised and hard to break down, and if this goes ahead I can see them grinding out a point on a tricky pitch. Gosport are a standout 11/10 with Corals and there is something to be said for that, though my own price about Gosport is Evs and I can't quite see enough of an edge. East Thurrock/Bognor and Met Police/Lowestoft are off, along with Hampton/Canvey.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29

could anyone enlighten me please' date=' why no bookies are touching eastwood town??[/quote'] Financial problems earlier in the season, with the manager going along with the senior players. New boss Chris Shaw is doing his best in very difficult circumstances with a squad that is vulnerable to injuries and suspensions. One point from a possible 33 tells its own story (annoyingly, that point came the last time I tipped against them!). The bookies are tending to stay well clear of the crisis clubs.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Dec 29 Thanks. Since many non-league matches are doubtful to go ahead, I'll rather have a bet on the higher leagues. And hope the new year's games go ahead. I've won more betting on non-league football than on the higher leagues, where sometimes the results are unpredictable and hard to justify.

Twitter at the moment.
any specfic site or just following all the teams? can I ask you another question without clogging your thread up I notice both teams to score in the lower leagues are all around 1/2 to both score. Has all the value been sucked out of it or is it a high scoring league ty

There are scores of feeds to look at, from club ones, to players, to searches of terms like 'match off'. Have to say I don't have a feel for a 'both teams to score market'. It's quite easy to work out teams' averages and I suspect that is what any setters who offer those prices use for extrapolating the odds. As a punter you need to find any chinks in the stats - a team, for example, who've draw a number of blanks at home because they've been playing top five sides and have been missing key players up front; once the situation changes they can become value.
