Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Dec 22 I'm not sure what the weather is going to throw up for the weekend, though there will doubtless be some call-offs. Solihull Moors away at Corby Town (15/8 10Bet) For all the good things that have been achieved at Corby in recent weeks - and they're much more stable under Chris Plummer than they were early season - they are still conceding (they've let in 11 in the last four at home, and more at home than Hinckley and Histon). Moors have had real problems winning games away - just one all season so far - but they are playing okay and three successive away draws and no defeats in the last seven in the league suggests a side that is hard to beat. They were lively at times against Wrexham in the Trophy and I think there is something generous in the price. Eastbourne Borough away at Billericay Town (7/4 BetVics) Both sides have moved into mid-table obscurity but I think the value is with the visitors, who are unbeaten in the last four away. Billericay are capable, as they proved in beating an in-form Bath last time out, but they won't have the same physical edge this weekend as Eastbourne have enough experience in the ranks to get through any Billericay bombardment. There's an element of risk here, as I don't think they've got the forward blend quite right yet, but they put in a sterling shift against Salisbury and the same again would probably be enough to be see them past Billericay, who are missing Chris Wild and Junior Luke. Eastleigh away at Weston-super-Mare (13/8 BetVictor) Despite Eastleigh's appalling away form, I'll risk them at this price. Although they lost at Hornchurch and Dover they did play okay, missing a pen in Essex and remaining competitive with ten men in Kent. Weston have done amazingly well to get as high as they are in the table, but with goals drying up a bit I can't help feeling they are losing momentum.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Dec 22 Not often I will think one of Ships' pick is a crazy one, but I have to say that about Eastleigh. Their away form is the joint worse in the league along with Truro and as much as I would love it if they did start winning for ante-post reasons, I find it impossible to even consider backing them at such short odds whoever they are playing.

Not often I will think one of Ships' pick is a crazy one' date=' but I have to say that about Eastleigh. Their away form is the joint worse in the league along with Truro and as much as I would love it if they did start winning for ante-post reasons, I find it impossible to even consider backing them at such short odds whoever they are playing.[/quote'] Fair point about the form guide, but I'm looking a bit further than that, basing the play on how Eastleigh's actual away performances have improved in the last month or so. This isn't the side that conceded six at Farnborough and four at Billericay. The fact that everyone can see is that they've taken one point from the past 12 away, which is a poor effort - but if you look deeper than the form table a different picture emerges. They bagged a point at Chelmsford in a very close match conceding a late equaliser, they were unlucky to lose at Eastbourne when they dominated particularly in the first half, and at AFC Hornchurch they missed a penalty in a 1-0 defeat, when again they battered the home side for long spells. At Dover they conceded early and late in the first half, although they were always competitive, even when they went down to ten men before half time. Putting those things together I think they are due an uptick in away form. I don't want to pick too many holes in Weston, who have done well, but they haven't been as fluid in the last few games.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Dec 22 Sounds to me they are just playing like they did against us in the FA Cup though. I still don't think 13/8 is any great value to find out if they are capable of winning an away match, but like I say I would love their away form to improve as they could still sneak into the top 3 if it did.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Dec 22 Maidenhead v Sutton The home side had a decent start to the season, but have been in woeful form of late. Prior to last Saturday’s win over Truro they had only won one of their previous ten games and considering that Truro’s away form is the joint worst in the league, I don’t really see it as proof they are about to go on a good run. Sutton had a surprisingly poor start to the season given how well they did last term, but have won their last two games and are slowly climbing the table. Crucially their away form has been fairly decent and four of their five wins this season have come on their travels. Sutton had a good win in the FA Trophy against Oxford City last weekend and look to be improving all the time. BetVictor are 29/20 about an away win and that looks a solid bet.
