Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem, North & South Nov 3 Beyond my reach at Bwin these days, but there are a couple of interesting plays for the weekend. Farnborough away at Bath City (2.65 Bwin) I've been opposing both sides as a rule this season, but all credit to Farnborough for turning their season round. The defence has stiffened considerably (though not completely) and they are much more competitive in midfield. A settled side has helped but so has some astute work in shuffling the personnel. Bath, who've not had chance to settle because of injuries and off the field changes, still look a little off the pace, and although there isn't much between the squads man for man, I'm happy to take Farnborough, who have been dealing confidently with struggling sides. Histon at home to Corby Town (2.9 Bwin) This is two young, and largely inexperienced sides meeting, so anything can happen, but I think Dennis Greene is a bit further along in his squad development at Histon than Corby's Chris Plummer. After some early-season thumpings they are looking much more organised. At home they have been a match for recent opponents, and put on good shows away in losing narrowing at Chester and Brackley. Corby won last night, but that was against a Gloucester side who might have been a gear lower they should have been with the cup coming up, and they are some way from being a well-oiled machine, even if they did dump Histon out of the cup after a replay. The price is a sporting one. Staines Town at home to Tonbridge Angels (11/10 Boylesports) Tonbridge are probably a little better than their points haul - and they have only lost twice away - but only Truro have conceded more in the section and they are vulnerable to the sprightly, quick-footed football the home side play. Staines are also reportedly a very fit side these days, and with Louie Theophanus adding to the goal tally keyman David Wheeler is no longer the only star of the show. They are on a decent run of successive wins at home. It's a side that has been assembled in the summer, so they'll make mistakes (such as their dismal first half at Chelmsford last week) and they probably need another year, but there are worse 100/1 shots out there than Skybet's antepost price for the section. They shouldn't be odds against for me.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem, North & South Nov 3 A very poor showing from me and Ships on here today as Histon lost in the odd goal in 7, Staines were thumped 4-1 although did go down to 10 men and missed a penalty when it was 0-0 and Farnborough also lost. At least I was spot on about Worcester who easily covered the handicap.
