Re: England > Weekend > Rest of Non-league Oct 6 To continue addpea's thought from last Saturday, Kettering... I'm surprised this has been priced up. This week has seen a new chairman, an alleged breach of their CVA, the lowest crowd in their history, more player departures... it goes on. Friday is payday and they may be shorn of their remaining first-teamers. That's not a given - the club are confident they'll fulfill this fixture and there's an outside chance that one of those mystery bidders is about to step in, but it mainly looks like they'll be in as bad or worse state when Concord did them last weekend. Bashley have been dire so far this season, though actually a little better away than at home, but they really should be bigger favourites - the 8/5 BetVics and Bet365 were offering when I posted this thread was too high and so is 5/4. Kettering won last night against Peterborough North Star in the county cup (the capable Warren Byerley scored both their goals), so they have some fight, but caretaker boss Alan Doyle told one of the fans' sites afterwards: "I wasn’t helped by a couple of players not turning up. Luckily, we managed to get a mate of one of the lads signed up and he did a job for us and we ended up playing some decent stuff, although we could and should have scored more goals. But we need at least five or six players to come in to help us. The lads who are here are doing the best they can and I am not going to criticise them for that. All I can do for the time being is try to get a team together so that we can fulfil Saturday’s fixture.”

Re: England > Weekend > Rest of Non-league Oct 6 No real news out of Kettering today - looks like a scramble to assemble a side for the Bashley game. It's anyone's guess whether any full-timers will be left on Saturday morning. Bashley are a best of 11/8 at Coral, and while not approaching the initial 8/5s it's a decent play in the circumstances even if Bash have been playing like relegation contenders. One more I like: Witton Albion at home to Ashton United (6/5 Bet365, Stan James) After a cracking start, a decent Ashton side have gone right off the boil, and they've a few personnel changes to accommodate on Saturday. Witton - not the most defensively savvy outfit in the Northern Prem - have an excellent portfolio of forward players and I think they'll be able to exploit a wobbly Ashton rearguard. My own price has Witton under Evs.

Just to confirm I am obviously on bashley as well. Like last week its hard to lump on given as ships points out they aren't great themselves, but you have to back them at the price given the side kettering are likely to put out. Sent from my HTC Desire S using PL Forum

Re: England > Weekend > Rest of Non-league Oct 6 Sutton United v Tonbridge Angels If you read my preview last week you will probably remember that we had the reverse game of this fixture and I tipped up the draw which the game duly was. This obviously was not meant to take place this weekend but as both sides have been knocked out of the FA Cup it has been brought forward which means we can back the draw again. Both sides actually won on Tuesday night and Sutton might kick on now they have won their first game of the season, but as last week showed there was little between these two and obviously the same reasons for backing the draw last week remain this week and BetVictor are best price at 5/2.
